Yeah, love nugs as a service. Glad to hear they pay well

Who are you kidding? Stasik would never let them do that. He’s basically the Joe Rogan of the jam scene

I thought that was Marcus King?

Right. How about the kid rock of the jam scene?

Anyone use Tidal or Qobuz regularly? Any Roon users?
Neil Young is cool and Music League is RIP, thinking of switching.

I likeTidal’s direct artist payment feature, but concerning it might just be a gimmick.

I’ve been flirting with Tidal. I like it. Using my discount through my Plex Plus lifetime membership. Thinking I might make the leap. One of the reasons I’ve held on to Spotify is that so many people use it it can be easy to share what I’m listening to with others. But whatever. People should just use the tech and services I use or fuck off.

Recently decided to not continue my Prime membership and I think I want to put that extra money into better streaming. Considering Tidal HiFi plus for the artist payouts, then maybe adding Roon to add my own library to the mix.

Sounds fancy.

Ever since that Joel tweet regarding Nugs fair payment (tier 3 drug band keyboardist making thousands), I’ve felt much better about digging through Nugs shows, especially with smaller bands

Not that I listen to jam anymore though

Can you not buy/download shows anymore on Nugs? Can’t find where to do this and all my previous purchases say ā€œdownload expiredā€.

I wanted to compare the quality of the stream to a FLAC.

Just gotta go nugs.net > artists

Thanks, that is not intuitive at all.

Time to decide whether Nugs HiFi is worth it… fuck me.

Do they have a hifi streaming option?

Yes. I’ve tried it a few times. It’s nice, but probably not worth the extra cost. The other major thing to consider is if you are listening mainly at home or out and about. The HiFi can struggle with cellular at times.

Yeah, I’d only be using the hi res streaming at home, just upgraded my network streamer, so I can now play hi res files on my nice speakers. Def don’t want to stream FLAC over cellular.

How does hi-res streaming like that work? Is there potential for loss of quality due to low bandwidth, or does it just buffer way longer?

So my streamer is connected via wifi, so bandwidth there might be an issue with latency but not quality. The digital data is still being transmitted no matter what, dude at the hifi store assured me that there is no quality difference between wifi or ethernet despite what internet audiophiles say.

I think it only affects the buffer and, since I’m only streaming audio there is not video/audio sync to worry about.

EDIT: at least this is my understanding. New to the hifi streaming world
