I don’t think I’ve listened to this one before. I might have to check this out!
Happy anniversary to one of my top 5 of all time. Epic late night show.

Anniversary bump!!
Almost forgot to bump this gem today.
Almost forgot again, until I saw the show bumped in the setlist forum. What an amazing 3 night run!!
Has it really been 19 f’n years? This was such a great weekend. They were on such a tear that fall & I’m just so grateful to have been along for the ride!

The amount of my times my eyes caught sight of “Tribute > Groove Holmes” on some form of the bort is sky high. Definitely one of the most referenced segments. GH improv still got it

Umphrey’s McGee - Glory - 11/3/2006
I still watch this Glory sometimes when I’m feeling down.
Anniversary bump!! This show is very solid, and each set has wonderful flow & some very tight jams. If it weren’t for the profound excellence of the nights before and after this one, it would be viewed with much more love by the UM fanbase. Even the fact that they dropped SOYCD in the middle of Ringo, rather than just full on improv, doesn’t sting as much as some would complain about since it has that sax element. The 1st set is so damn solid, top to bottom. I used to spin that set, set 2 of 11/2 & set 1 of 11/4 an obnoxious amount for a couple years after these shows. What an amazing 3 night run!!
Anniversary bump!!

Forgot to bump this one yesterday. The whole 1st set run of I.C. → EOTR all the way through August is absolutely beautiful for the entire stretch.

I recently revisited these 2 shows, and I still lean towards the 11-10 show, by just a tiny bit. I’m sure it’s partial song preference bias, but even that isn’t a very big margin. I just loved that 3X, Liquid > DBK so damn much, and then that August, Blecho > Water > Blecho was fire. The 11-9 sets each had better flow than the 11-10, but I still dig the jams more in 11-10. Encore of 11-9 def wins that battle though.
Yet another obligatory (double) bump!! Does not feel like these were 15 years ago.

Fun little addition to this, which I’m fairly certain I had talked about on older bort(s), but I brought an old metal head, prog rock buddy to this one. I believe it was his 1st or maybe 2nd time coming along to see UM. He’s a huge guitar guy, and really talented…leads the annual Zappafest here in MKE. Anyway, by the end of that 2nd set after the run of Muches, FF > No More Tears finishes, I looked over and he had a shit eating grin & was holding his fists in the air as if we just won the Super Bowl. It was really cool to see him react that way.

13 year bump for solid Dump, Haunt & the return of Mamu!!…
I’ve got a good buddy who has a friend who was the bar manager there back in like ‘06-‘11. He’d get tipped off to what color those free drink tickets were going to be for bands we were planning to see. He’d go buy a roll of tickets of the appropriate color & we’d have a great f’n time with ‘em. Handed out so many free drink tix to friends and strangers who seemed like they’d be appreciative. The only basic stipulation was that anyone scamming the bar made sure to over tip the staff, so they’d look the other way & not call out someone who came back like a dozen times, when the offer was 2 tix per voucher.
I hate that venue so much, but there were def some top tier shows, as well as some serious perks at times.

Happy 20th to a very special evening!! There was such a unique vibe in the room that night. As much as I can’t stand the Rave/Eagles at this point, some of the show memories are so amazing & positive. I still love this band, but these early memories really are priceless.

Beginning of a great 3 night run. Despite the next 2 nights being so stacked, this show is great in its own right. The Wally & Bottom Half in the 1st set are killer, then the Plunger/SF1/Plunger & MFF are outstanding. I feel very fortunate to have seen this run. Shows just kept getting better also. This Columbus show is a monster, but being that it’s seated right between the Grand Rapids & Ann Arbor shows, it has never been my go to of the run. The 1st set is huge, with the always beautiful EOTR to open, into a giant DBK that clocks In well over 30+ mns with a Haji sandwiched in it. Then the return of Wappy was a very special moment for sure. Set 2 has some great stuff as well, but this show has always been about that 1st set, IMHO. This show was really great to be in attendance for, but for me it always gets overshadowed by the next night. Really glad we made the effort, as we knew quite a few people who skipped the long out of the way drive, and just stayed in Michigan between the GR & Ann Arbor shows.

I was super sick this show bouncing back from a nasty case of dorm room strep. Got the full body rash and everything. That run was incredibly fun in the end with @stecky and @Deaner. I also have a weird story for this show featuring Don roughing me up by the merch table when he thought I was stealing stuff through the lattice wall holding up shirts and such.
(It was a homeless man it turns out.) Good times!
I remember the bort and such being on edge waiting for Wappy to return since it was on the BHam setlist a few weeks prior but not played.
I guess I never realized there was a pre lyric wappy. I’ll have to find the early versions. Any recs?
