Today in Umphrey's McGee History

One of my favorite encores. Love that cover

The lead up to that weekend was some of the most epic borting ever, when Ralph was going buckwild in anticipation. I’d rather know who Ralph was than the Zodiac Killer or DB Cooper.

ah yes, the riverview fest shows. got a hotel with my friend and his girl. they get into a fight, and he ends up staying with his ex and having a threesome with his ex and some other chick. i was stuck with the gf in our hotel with no contact from buddy as to what was up. the gf that he ditched and left with me sucked, so i was kinda miserable.

the shows were a ton of fun

my biggest issue was the ghosting aspect. i had no idea where he disapeared off to. just sorta left me with this chick.

i was already a third wheel, then somehow i found myself figuratively in a sidecare on a unicycle

Since your bro had a threesome, you should forgive him IMO. I’d leave you and the chick too tbh

Glad you’re cool, but he should have texted and said “dude, having a 3some… sorry about the gf… you have my permission to siihb”

All summer of ‘07 there was this borter named Ralph who was either a very dedicated troll or some 18 year old spunion moron that posted all day and just really got people going. He disappeared not long after never to be seen again.

I remember Mark (p’coyote) saying he knew where the guy was at a seated show that fall, or maybe early ‘08, but I never saw him myself. I think it may have been 9-15 Cincinnati, or possibly Ann Arbor. Ralph was def a mystery, and certainly a character. I don’t remember ever getting into anything with him personally, but won’t ever forget how much he was around & riled people up.

It was the quote button. He never used the quote button.

This show was such a great time. We hit super shitty traffic through the Chicago area, and just barely made it inside the venue while the intro jam was still going on.

I had a buddy hop in the car at the last second, and he decided to eat a large piece of WOW that his buddy handed him right before he climbed into the backseat. I didn’t think that was a very good idea, but he was a trooper. When we hit the 90 minute traffic delay, he was less than comfy lying across the backseat while I cranked Ween on the ride… :man_shrugging: …once we arrived, he then decided to lie down in the grass for almost the entire 1st set. He was able to gather himself for the 2nd set at least.
