Speak up>water is one of my faaaaav things. The jam gets so out there and wierd then just the perfect drop into water, which is one of my fav songs

Yep. Speak Up > Water > Fir > Muffin Man is fire. Second set was good too. I just remember thinking that there were so many moments from this show where the improv and lights were so perfect. Amazing experience all around.

Second night was good for the OOO > AiT, Mantis and August > HBB but that show took a long time to pick up steam.

Also today is the 10 year anniversary of my first red rocks show, and first time umphreys headlined RR. People shit on this show, but has 4 killer jams (bridgeless,HBB,divisions, red tape) plus just overall dope song selection. Idk, I love this show and thing it stands out, besides a lil slop here and there

That was my first RR show too. I don’t think people really shit on it, it’s just not as good as some of the others

My buddy always complains about the time he saw phish and they encored with the spangled banner a capella. Seems like a better move as a set opener lol.

My first RR show. Such a fucking awesome weekend. Music and hiking.

Does this show not count anymore??? It’s a headline 1-setter.

I thought that was a co-headline with galactic or something. My mistake though if I’m misremembering

This show, 14 years ago tonight, was smoking hot!! The only better better Summerfest UM show would maybe be the ‘05, but they both shine pretty bright!!

The 1st set is just so damn good!! The 2nd set sandwiches are pretty damn fine as well, especially that big DBK w/the nasty Kabump in the middle, but that 1st set is f’n gold!!

OK, so IMO, it’s either this show from 16 years ago or that ‘07 show which holds the title for best UM show at Summerfest. That 7-5-2007 1st set is just such a f’n monster, but this show as a whole might be slightly more complete. Just great stuff scattered throughout both sets. Set 2 of ‘07 started so strong, but after the DBK/Kabump sandwich, it never quite carried that same momentum. It’s really a tough call, honestly…it’s probably more of how I’m feeling on any given day, in terms of where my allegiance lies on this. :man_shrugging:

My first show was the following day in St. Louis, but this was one I listened to a bunch while getting into the band. I like the jams in Divisions and JaJunk.

Show is great and the JaJunk is pretty straightforward but very fun. Robot World lyrical is excellent too, think it made a Raw Stewage ballot one year.

Yeah, that Robot is pretty awesome and def a standout from the show.

I really miss Heart and Soul being in fairly regular rotation. That is such a great cover for UM. I’ve seen 3 of them, with the 1st being at a street fest in Chi in ‘04, then this & the Barrymore in fall of ‘05 being the others.
