I just love '03 and '04 UM shows for the “looseness factor”. This was the band I fell in love with, and although I 100% love what they have evolved into I definitely miss this style of playing and these kind of shows…
I’m with you. In 2006 and 2007 I spent a lot of time downloading '03-'05 shows from the archive, burning them to CD’s, and spinning them in my 50-CD changer. Whenever there was a tease noted on the archive, I would download the original song if I hadn’t heard it before. Learned about a lot of different music I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten into that way.
Both 11/29 and 12/1 are fucking incredible. 11/29 is the perfect example of looking at a set on paper and thinking meh, but listening to it it’s a completely different beast.
Really killer show here. As much as I hate The Rave/Eagles, I’ve seen some really amazing UM shows in that building. I have some very fond memories of seeing the band in this venue back the early years.

Was this the bucketsworth show where Joel puked on stage? That December 04 run was before my time but some great shows. I think someone did a massive analysis of this Triple Wide bounceback on one of the old borts that was very helpful for me as a n00b to understand bouncebacks and stews.

I think I was at the holiday show on this date 4 years ago. Good times with @Albert.Ross @Yawnspterodactyl and Lana. SolidAF crew, I miss these peeps.
no, that was 3/4/2003 - Setlists / - All Things Umphrey's.
3/4/03 was a fairly undersold show. I had returned back to philly from pittsburgh, home for spring break. the show was on mardi gras and south street in philadelphia was EMPTY. there were police on every block and it created a weird presence which was due to some incident in philly where the mayor had to shut things down. I don’t recall what the situation was, but it was just weird to have a “party holiday” not represented on a street with a bunch of bars. 3/4/03 was also the last time i saw lotus.
this was was an amazing show.
i was living in philly at this point and had to work the next day. I had to drive while my friend passed the fuck out for the whole ride home. i was quite jealous. i always drove that dude around, and he couldn’t ever stay awake 6 minutes to keep me company on any of those night drives home from shows.
So much fun was had! First time ever having treehouse thanks to you! Hope all is well my man. Miss you lots
A little late on this one, but 16 years ago a few days ago was my first show

[4] with Eleanor Rigby (The Beatles) jam
Notes:
Cowboys From Hell was played in remembrance of “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott
with YYZ (Rush) tease from Ryan before Kimble
We walked in late into 2x2 because the line getting in took forever on account of very heavy security. Dimebag had been killed on stage the previous night (not in this venue) and so the pat down was intense. Hence the Cowboys from Hell bit in his honor. Walked into to the middle of 2x2 and it was fucking epic to my young ears. I only knew a few tunes at this point but heard a bunch of them, and the set closing Rosanna was just about the best cover I’d ever heard in my life. Rode the rail staring at BB slack jawed the whole time, and even though I’m a guitarist Myers made the biggest impression on me. Chatted w/ BB at setbreak, which was super cool. Even though this show is pretty pedestrian by the time period, I was in awe the entire time at what I was seeing.
01/08/2012 has a solid Made to Measure jam. Listened to it this morning. First UM I’ve put on in awhile but options were limited for my OTD listening across the board, which is something I enjoy doing.
This show from today in 2004 has a pretty insane setlist. KB (must go) Matrix too. I used to listen to this show quite a bit when I my UM obsession was first starting around Christmas 2004.
Richmond 2019 N1. Really great Mantis and a solid DBK with a jam in a weird spot (jammed before the classical segment and then skipped it entirely)
This is one of those great under the radar 2019 shows. IDM > Alex’s > Similar Skin is such a great opening run, love that jazzy IDM jam and Sim Skin w/ Jake on keys. Dump > Walking on the Moon > CIty is really fun.
They didn’t play the classical part? That is super weird.
1/16/2013 is a good one
One year ago at BK bowl was my last live concert and it was a night for the books.
Not the hottest musical start for my taste, but Milk got the party going. Domino also had a strong jam, and tribulations was rad.
For whatever reason, I decided to up my party droog intake late in set 1.
Obviously the set 2 FP opener got me hyped beyond belief. Virtue—>OOO is buttery AF and Gulf Stream hit the spot.
Fun show and I was feeling NICE.
I embarrassed myself in the coat check line, trying to tip the security guard for busting me trying to slip my ticket to a friend towards the front of the line. Idk why, but I was convinced that him sending me to the back on the line meant he was doing a phenomenal job.
The crew decides to go hang at the gutter, another dope bowling alley/bar around the block.
On the way we (my wife, a buddy and I) see Joel and Andy chilling with some crew smoking jays, so I ask Joel if I spark my J if he’d smoke it with us.
His reply: “if it’s good shit”.
Well, it was not good shit. I usually smoke headies but this was some outdoor mids spliffed. I sketchily reassured Joel it’s a hybrid.
We do the intros, my buddy asks Andy if he wants a balloon (he declined politely), Joel asks what kind of weed I’m giving him and again I mutter it’s a hybrid.
One puff puts me on another planet and I’m sure we embarrassed ourselves thoroughly.
We get to the gutter, I get dominated at bubble hockey by my boy (5-0 shutout maybe), and kris shows up. I go full fan boy on him, explaining how my beacon loge seats gave me a perfect view of his kit and how I couldn’t wait to listen to his singing of limelight.
We bowl to the wee hours of the night, say so long to kris on the way out (who held it down in the bar area till like 3am), and head home.
Amazing night
Lots of TiUMH shows for 1/20. 2012 is the only one I really care to listen to…
