we were very much teetering on whether to commit or not, but then once 1UP was on the table, it was a no-brainer.
Unfortunately I cannot confirm the visual aspects of said hog
The fact you had to specify “visual” heavily implies you had direct experience with the olfactory, tactile, and flavor aspects of the hog. How were those?
How was the mouth feel
it isn’t all that much more than a Tool ticket anyways, and I assume the VIP set will be sick
This is how I have always looked at it when getting VIP, dunno if I’m just justifying to myself but some people spend $1000’s on some pop act that plays an hour and half ± once you do the maths its about $100 extra or less for VIP depending on the Merch Item/s, also I am assuming with you going to a show in the New York Metro open bar makes it even cost if you drink, that is assuming drink prices are crazy as they are basically everywhere now, just don’t pull a Farva or do?
Also
I’m usually with my wife and get 2 posters which I usually give to a friend if they are at the show…shit one NYE there was a poster for each night so we ended up with doubles of each night. Since I like posters its also nice not to have to wait in Merch line to get one
This got me thinking if Consider it Dan still exists…quick google seems like a maybe?
Bro what the fuck is olfactory ![]()
DYOR
“Where do they make them cars?”
“Ah, they make ‘em down at the ol’ factory”
my buddy works there, we call him ole’ factory Hugh
bruh
When you enter a Greta Van Fleet show and notice that the air smells of beasters and axe body spray, you are using your olfactory system.
Thanks g
@Zencer Your deflection of my question rather than outright denial was duly noted.
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Another noob-ish question: has there ever been a compilation of noteworthy Kris solos? I’m not even sure how much he does solo, but I was really digging a stretch in the Divisions from UMBowl III and am looking for pointers to other stuff like this.
I’ve searched around the Bort a bit, but I haven’t found anything yet … that said, I’m not sure if I’m just not searching well. Thinking maybe I should just go to ATU and check out the Drums listings, but if anyone has other suggestions, I’m all ears.
Lots of pre 2023 day nurse tracks had an extended drum solo. I don’t think they started opening it up to type 2 until this year
I’m still unclear on exactly what noodling and vamping means. Anyone care to explain it to me lol.
In Oklahoma, we also call noodling: hogging, dogging, grappling, grabbling, and tickling. Depends which part of the state you’re in.
I know all about slathering shit on your arms and catching catfish
Here’s a question that I’ve not figured out in my 2 years of DBMBing.
How does one come to the thought of, where a song fits on a setlist? I see a bit of “this seems like a 2nd set song” or “awful song in the middle of the set”
That’s a good question other people can probably give a much better answer to. A couple of thoughts occur to me:
- It just comes from listening to and going to a lot of shows. Good ones, but of course bad ones. You get a sense of how songs flow together, their energies, how crowds respond.
- If you asked me to name a “2nd set song” by UM, the first one that comes to mind is 3x.
- If you asked me to name a “1st set song” by UM, I’m less sure of this but the first one that comes to mind is Reso.
EDIT: More thoughts since I’m still thinking about it. In general, jam band crowds are looser and dancier during 2nd sets than 1st sets. So songs that are dancier and poppier usually go in the second set. Also, covers, many shows seem to not have a cover until 2nd set.
Other 2nd set songs UM has: Both Nurses, Bad Friday
