Big Heart opener on 2/14/2010 is one of my fav UM memories.
Adding to @SchladopianFir’s original question, in my mind UM usually fumbles the bag after setbreak. I can think of about a dozen shows where the first set was great and the second was average or worse, but none immediately come to mind where the first set was a stinker and they totally redeemed themselves in the 2nd. I’m sure it’s happened, but I can’t think of a single one off the top of my head lol.
Think you might be overqualified to be posting in this thread anymore…
Lol… true. But, I have delusions that some other newb to UM is gonna stumble across das Bort, like I did, and I ask these silly questions just in case.
Since when are they attracting new fans? Jk jk. Appreciate your diligence.
In the setlist thread for this show on the last iteration, I referenced the hand claps during ALB. I had seen the song a few times before, but either never noticed the band asking the crowd to do during previous times played, or this was the first time after “getting it” that I saw Umphrey’s play this song, so was paying more attention.
What’s it called when 1 member starts a segment in a jam, and the others slowly join in throughout, leading to the jam speeding up until they get to where they’re going? I hear it when they usually do cover jams like 3/2/23 Spires, but my best example is the 4/27/13 Front Porch jam in the last slot.
I’m guessing it’s gonna be called something like a build-up jam or whatever. While we’re on it, is there names for other jam types?
That’s called a non-composed jam. Really confuses them.
