The Doniac Schvice

Seven Below, Tweezer, Gotta Jibboo, Simple, and Pebbles and Marbles were all pretty damn awesome, especially for 15 year old Chris. This was also the night I realized that I was a way bigger nerd than a lot of other people. I went with my older brother and his friends My brother isnt a fan, but he was just being nice. His friends were all huge phish fans, though, and I remember thinking they were super cool before the show. They were giving me all this shit about being 15 and it being my first show, then by the end I realized I knew way more about Phish than they did.

Uhhg I tried so hard to get to the SPAC shows that summer.

Didn’t have a car, couldn’t find anyone I knew well enough going, mom/dad wouldn’t drive me. I remember being so PISSED at them.

Yea, that 2/20/03 show was the only 2.0 show I got to see. I had tickets for Deer Creek > Alpine in 2004, but the deal with my mom was that I had to get good grades the semester before and not get in any trouble. I got the grades, but ended up getting caught smoking weed in my bathroom before school after I thought she had left for work. My mom instantly tore up my tickets. Wouldn’t even let me sell them.

Lol ahhh rough! oh yeah I was talking about the 2004 shows. Saratoga is a solid 3.5 hours from Rochester so it was a tough sell for me. Even if I had gotten my car by then I wouldn’t have been allowed to go solo back then. Making Fenway 2009 my first show unfortunately.

I can relate to so things here.

Ugh reminds my of my first show at Deer Creek 2003. Was supposed to go with my best friend (still to this day) for our first Phish show. But he got arrested with pot leaving Bonnaroo and his parents wouldn’t let him go anymore. Ended up going with another friend (at the time, no longer friends) instead. He later in life got arrested for child porn possession. Always thought he was a little weird before that, but fuck that guy.

I’ve been crushing AUDs the last couple days…

2/20 Rosemont is my most listened-to 2.0 show, no question.

Going to spin this today. Reba opener is certainly unusual!

Downloaded the Clifford Ball movie since I’d never seen it or listened to the shows. Had limited time before the “wife” would come home and ruin it. Decided to just watch the extra material of interviews and various snippets and sections of music. Haven’t even gotten to the main sets of music in their entirety and I’m having yet another “oh yeah this is probably the best band ever” realizations.

Lol looking forward to getting into the full sets.

8-17 set 2 is the god set

Their soundchecks might be more interesting to me than some of the younger bands that have been on the rise the past decade.

The playing in that set is just so damn tight. Just straight heat. I feel very fortunate to have been there. An older buddy of mine always said he saw god that night during set 2, so we refer to it as the god set. It’s a special one for sure. Miss that guy. Lost touch with him over 10 years ago.

n2s2 is top shelf heat for sure. also n1s3 is still one of my favorite sets of music. the FM sources that circulated afterward sounded so great compared to all the 5th gen noisy aud’s that were passed around.
