I get that the pandemic threw all old plans out the window but I swear UM was trying to do more multi-night runs? Who wants to do SD > LA > Bay Area > Reno? I know that’s kind of their default CA run but I feel like there are fewer and fewer people who are inclined to drive SD > LA, then fly to SF and drive Reno. Awful.
As someone who has done that leg a few times, it’s not worth it lol. I ended up missing a half a set 2/4 nights in 2015. By the end you’re just so exhausted and not enjoying it as much as you should be. Multi night runs ftw.
Ya they were def moving to multi night runs in cities before Covid
Is it possible venues are trying to avoid multi-night runs? Could be talking completely out my ass and I haven’t been following tour announcements for any band closely enough to see if this is industry-wide or just UM. Wouldn’t make sense to me anyway, multi-night run with the same group has to be less overhead, no?
Anyone know anything about the Richmond venue Music At Maymont? Capacity? In for that or Birmingham but not both.
Don’t forget people wanting Wilmington tickets that that show almost always sells out instantly.
I went in 2012. Just remember a big field with a stage
I’m wondering if it’s hard to get holds on 2-3 night blocks of dates when there are so many rescheduled shows happening on top of touring acts needing to get out on the road.
Oh, so that is just the venue formerly known as the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden? My first show was there! Lol. I’ll probably just pass then and stay closer to home.
Sorry meant 2011. Botanical garden was better but not by much lol
Yeah, truthfully feels like they’re just checking a box for their West Coast fans. I don’t know why they keep playing the Fox Oakland. Great venue but it’s only 1/2-2/3 full each time they play. 2 nights at a smaller venue (like they used to do the Fillmore) seems more economical and better for fans/build more enthusiasm. But I’m prob just butt hurt that CA gets ignored by good bands.
This is only true if jam bands are your only definition of good bands. We get everything else.
Some areas more than others. SD gets skipped a lot
That’s true. SD gets hosed on a lot of tours. And then the greater LA area will get like… four stops.
Not to sound like a dork but doesn’t anyone know the presale code for the new dates… need to buy a Birmingham ticket to brighten up my day
Never mind it was in the fucking tweet
I’ll be in Nashville for a bachelor party September 30th - October 2nd. The groom is a big UM head who lives in San Diego so I think I’ll be able to convince him on this one.
That’d be awesome, lmk if you need any good Nashville recs too
will defintiely hit you up once the date gets closer. hittin’ up smokin’ thighs is the only thing on the agenda so far.
It’s good but don’t think it’s mind-blowing. Certainly above average though. For your meat fixin’ I recommend Peg Leg Porker.
are you commenting about Smokin’ Thighs or was your whole post about PLP
always down to try BBQ
The “wife” and I are in for Fool’s Paradise and Savannah. We’re really considering Bozeman too, but flying out of Tallahassee is really expensive.
It’ll be my first visit to Savannah so I’m pretty excited about it. A good friend of mine owns a brewery there called Two Tides (https://www.twotidesbrewing.com/), which is 2 miles away from the venue. Gonna be a great weekend!
