Thanks, if I can’t fly non-stop I would probably drive. I love driving and hate flying. I also hate dealing with rental cars (which are incredibly expensive and difficult to book lately) as well.

Driving is therapeutic for me. I loved my solo drive with the pooch out west last summer.

The rental code for National/Enterprise that @OSUmBeaverPhreak gave out in the travel tips thread was legit. I got half off my rental to CO last July.

I should have my new truck by then and if we leave the kids/dog with the grandparents it will be a fun trip. We did the same a few years ago, drove to Pittsburgh, NYC, CT, and took our time driving back home.

I’ve driven every time I’ve gone to Colorado

Fuck driving through Kansas.

Totally avoidable for me.

For sure. I was just making a general assessment. I have no problem with driving. Have driven all over this country. Road trips are sweet

I mainly fly though. Just because it’s hard to get more days off work.

Iowa/Nebraska > Missouri/Kansas

However if you have time to kill, South Dakota is the best state to cross the Great Plains imo.

Definitely agree on South Dakota, but fuck Iowa/Nebraska. I’d be happy to never do that drive again

They are pretty boring but my brother lives in Des Moines so it’s always nice to stop and see him.

The most redeeming part of Nebraska along I-80 is the sweet dog park in North Platte with a full agility course.

Haha I’ve brought my doggo to that park

I was under the impression that Des Moines’ downtown area was nice with some breweries and good restaurants? Am I thinking of the wrong city in Iowa?

There are some good spots for sure. Iowa Tap Room and Exile Brewing both have restaurants. Iowa Tap Room has 99 taps from Iowa breweries. El Bait Shop has a huge tap list too.

Yeah, El Bait Shop was the place I was thinking of.

The ‘wife’ and I used to work at Court Avenue Brewing in downtown Des Moines at 4th and Court. Head chef is a good friend and big into the scene. We hosted some of the band back in the day when they played downtown at People’s. You can sit in the same booth and i believe we made them sign a mug.

Yeah, EAD @sociablehodor! :kissing_heart:

Also, this is just so funny to me. He just said lol about Frontier which is warranted but apparently he’s coming across as an insufferable asshole? I bet if any other borter made that comment, you wouldn’t care at all (well maybe @StoneJackBaller).

I literally have never even heard of frontier I just knew a simple lol would be worth my while and bring some lulz.

Hope you make it to the shows, @flyfishmich . That sounds like a solid plan.

I’m looking forward to this run since it will most likely be the first time I see them again this year. Also excited to get back out to CO again.

Crazy. I guess they are more a Midwest/Mountain airline. They’re the JetBlue of the Midwest.

I figured he actually had and that’s why he commented. Anyway, they have certainly been discussed on -bort before. Need to get my wife on board, first.

Would an Air BNB in Golden be a good plan for Red Rocks?
