We are doing almost the exact same thing, except we are taking two day south coast tour on Wed/Thurs and then a tour up to the Snaefellsnes Penninsula on Monday rather than driving.
Also driving to Snuffleupagus Peninsula Monday. Maybe we should take over a hostel or BandB for Monday night.
This sounds like a fantastic itinerary. Try to get some ice cave trekking in!
Sounds like we have an opposite itinerary of most people.
Thursday: Snaefellnus, Fri-Sun: shows/golden circle, Mon-Fri: southern coast/Vik/ice cave/Hofn
Honeymoon trip and a birthday in the middle of it!
In the email I received from UM regarding late night announcements, there was a note on the bottom saying that all tickets have been automatically switched to will call and that any previous name changes had to be redone through a link to a Gmail address. Has anybody done this yet? Just wondering what is up with that⌠the gmail address made the whole thing sound fishy to me! I purchased an eticket from someone on cashortrade so this would apply to me.
itâs legit
We just finished booking our lodging too.
Arrive on Thursday the 19th at 6am.

Monday the 23rd to the 25th explore Snaefellsnes peninsula
Thursday the 26th drive south to Vik
Friday the 27th and 28th further south/east for beach / glacier exploration.
Fly out Sunday the 29th at 5pm.
Arrive on Thursday the 19th at 6am
Sounds like youâre on my flight! From Newark?
Icelandair from Newark? Thatâs what weâre taking.
I flew Icelandair when I went and the inn flight menu had gin flights. It was awesome.
Yep!
No, we are flying direct from Seattle.
Flying from Seattle to Keflavik, arriving March 11 at 6:00. Immediately going to Blue Lagoon to relax
March 11th to 15th: South Coast adventure, Grindavik, Vik, Eyjafjallajokull, Katla Ice Caves, Jokulsarlon, Skaftafell, Vantnajokull glacier hike and Crystal Ice Cave Tour, Hofn, dozens of hot springs and pools
March 16 to 18: Side trip to London and Paris
March 19-22: Reykjavik, Iceland Symphony, Umphreyâs Mcgee, Golden Circle, Snorkel at Silfra Fissure
March 23-25 Snaefellsnes, glacier hike and whale watch, Westfjords. Tentatively planning on spending the night of the new moon watching the northern lights from the Drangsnes Hot Pots, but I am leaving my entire itenary tentative and willing to change based on weather conditions.
Iâd also like to visit Vestmannaeyjar at some point, but only if the seasonal shorter ferry is open. Itâs an island off the south coast, site of a famous volcanic eruption in the 1970s. The winter ferry is a brutal 3 hour trip through rough seas so Iâll pass on that.
Also thinking about going straight to Blue Lagoon from a 6am arrival flight.
Itâs great. Highly recommended after a long red eye. The combo of bitter cold and the hot water is amazing
I just checked the blue lagoon website and found out it does not open until 8:00 during the winter season. I still think this will be my first activity but it looks like I will have just not rush over there after landing.
Make sure to book in advance. It WILL sell out
How crazy does that place get? It doesnât seem as appealing if itâs as packed as a wave pool on the 4th of July.
I went to the Secret Lagoon in the Golden Circle as soon as the opened and it was great. It was just us for like 45 min before anyone else showed up.
Doesnât get packed, but it does sell out. Might not be a huge problem first thing in the morning but we got shut out the first time we tried to go
