We booked a whale watching trip and a Reykjavik food tour. Other than that, planning to just do things at our own pace - lots of driving and hitting short hikes and roadside views on our own time.
Food tour was something we did in Hanoi and we got to try a bunch of food we probably wouldn’t have tried on our own. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Hopefully this one is worth it, though it’s a lot more expensive than Hanoi (because duh). Expecting it will be a lot of food that we will be eating anyways on our own, but probably get a few other things that we wouldn’t have tried otherwise plus some good history about food/culture in Iceland.
Golden Circle can very much be done at your own pace but we also rented a vehicle. But it’s so popular I bet there are 53512956 tours operating per day.
They have pics on their Facebook page and I’m pretty sure the store is mostly drinkware. They have simpler coffee mugs which would be my choice. I’ll take a bottle opener or magnet or whatever if mugs are a no go. Nothing too fancy or, anything that would be a hassle for you to carry around. Thanks!
I should have said, “I’m keeping time open for hikes”. I’m a trail runner and had hoped to get some action in on this trip, but the more I look at AllTrails comments, the more I’m realizing that weather likely won’t be on my side to do anything with much elevation. I’ve found a cool shorter routes (~4-5mi) near the coast/beaches in Vik, and some longer stuff out on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. WIll just need to play it by ear with weather.
