Yeah, that’s what I was gonna say. Lots of the country is totally inaccessible in the winter without special vehicles
I’ve been keeping an eye on safetravel.is as I finalize my travel plans. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a country-wide weather alert before:
March 17, 2022: All Iceland – weather alert! All day and night: wind speed 54-90 kmH, heavy snowfall, blowing snow. Bad visibility, difficult driving conditions. Adjust/change travel plans.
Iceland’d. Those blizzards are no joke. One of the scariest drives I’ve ever done was along the southern coast in a snow storm
Yeah… gonna need this snow to melt, I’ve got plans.
Iceland wind of no joke. Saw multiple trucks blown over on the highway one day. Shit was mad stressful.
Really hoping the weather isn’t terrible when we’re there. It’s a ways away but looks like a mixed bag. I’m not planning on going further than Vik though
I’m coming out just for the shows, not leaving Reykjavik. Possible to make due with credit card only and not exchange any currency?
From what I’ve read they pretty much prefer card
My god there are some completely helpless, barely functioning adults in that Iceland FB group. At least I know what they look like so I can avoid getting near them in the venue.
“Am I posting too much in this group?”
Bitch if you have to ask the answer is YES
I don’t think I even had any Icelandic currency in my hands in the 11 days I was there.
Pretty much everywhere in Europe (other than bodegas) prefers card at this point
Yeah I’m going to take out the equivalent of like $100 but otherwise going card all the time
Word. I’ll just hit an atm if I have to for some reason.
Remember to consider foreign transaction fees. I’ll use my capital one card since they waive them.
ATMs are usually the best way to get cash. Just make sure to withdraw in local currency and not in USD. USD always has extra conversion fees.
Just trying to protect people from the rip off currency exchanges in the airport!
I know that it was an actually good tip because of the context, it’s just funny to hear that sentence.
You should drink their milkshakes. Drink it up
