UM is dying and that’s ok

I concede from earlier. When i look at this more objectively, of course it would be cool for them. I had tunnel vision over the notion of them just being there to play UM songs.

I see what you did there.

UM tickets will now say “Buyer Beware, only a 1 guitar band,”.

Umphrey’s hasn’t played Upward since Jake left. I hope it stays shelved.

I genuinely like the current 5 piece better than any year of post covid 6 piece UM.

Been reiterated a bunch on here, but with UM soundboards being ridiculously shitty, I’ve had no interest in Nugs, which has led to a much more enjoyable experience live. It’s nice to appreciate the comps and not get pissed at covers now.

I was already content seeing 2-6 UM shows a year, but I’d say I’m more interested in the band with Bayliss taking over than I have been in the last 3-4 years. Down to crash out about it if anyone is bored

I love summer 2022, right when Jake came back. He was ready to go starting right away at the summer camp red barn show. Really great playing that whole summer. Problem is, I hated Brendan’s tone during that year. Sounded like his amp was underwater.

Yea, agreed 2022 was definitely a small comeup year. Summer is really strong with the DUMB shows, 4 night CO run and then they cap it off with an atypical summer WC run (wasn’t that the run with Blues Traveler or is that a diff post-'rona year??). Lots of nice gems to be found in that year. Also, UMBowl IX was a sweet effort, obviously all the Blueprints songs with the exception of Den came from that/those show(s) essentially

Good pull!

I met some really cool peeps there. I loved when they finished, and the lot turned all the lights on, and you heard the biggest collective groan ever while seeing wooks scattering from time lights like waterbugs.

That felt like the last time I saw them on a major stage. That Saturday lineup was so stacked, easily my favorite day at a festival in recent memory

Yeah was awesome how factor plugged into those huge LED screens on the side of stage that were there for North Coast the next weekend

I loved Chatt > Asheville, Dillon Amp and ATL 12/30 from 2022. Remember enjoying caverns DUMB weekend but nothing I’ve revisited. Caught the most shows I’ve seen in one year then. Fell off pretty hard after though

This current iteration is definitely my favorite since then, at the very least.
