Portnoy was my least favorite drummer of that new years run if I’m being honest. It was cool to see still but to pretend he handled the material better than Rory is ridiculous.
It’s kinda like how Jay Lane is objectively a better player than Bill K in 2025. I’d rather the execution of the music be prioritized over having someone in there for their name.

Looks like JWelsh is in the reddit comments saying a new drummer is already locked in and they didn’t want to muddy the Kris announcement with that drop.
My biggest takeaway is that (unsurprisingly) JWelsh would rather interact with that VfJ-lite than this hive of scum and villainy.

He left during my peak manic bort period. Doubt it was just me though. This whole place was bored and probably drinking more than usual. Band was also bad so its harder to defend against people you know arent going to care
