Everything has been really good and balanced too
Thanks Biden!
I was at the grocery store buying eggs the other day and I couldnât find a single dozen under $5, I buy pasture raised so that shit was like $9. Some guy started talking to me about the egg prices fluctuating as if they were gas prices. I was really stoned and said âbuddy, I donât know what to tell ya. I just canât remember ever paying this much for a dozen eggs.â
I hate when people try to make small talk by making extremely obvious statements
It really doesnât feel like it was that long ago that i paid a dollar for a dozen eggs
String Cheese couldnât sell out Red Rocks with John Fogerty in 2022. I was able to get a ticket at the box office after the show started. That shocked me. I think most bands in the jam sphere are seeing a decline.
I think it ebbs & flows as well. Like obviously after the pandy there was a hike in demand then we see live music demand start to setttle down. Combined with the other factors like wages not keeping up with the cost of living and people are starting to have families. Itâs not like the interest truly waned so much as the fans go through different shit that affects how they spend their time and money. I always thought this scene was kinda niche anyway so itâs not surprising to see some fair-weather fans fade away. As it usually goes, thereâs many things that go into ticket sales, not just the bands material sometimes itâs da money on the front end rather than all the blame soley being on production. Business babaaaaaay
Despite what I will have you believe, UM isnt doing that much worse than anyone else their size
Preceisly what I was alluding to with my rant above. I wouldnât say itâs limited to Umphreyâs, but rather the live music industry as a whole. How many larger acts completely canceled tours recently?
It is so hit-and-miss
I have been to so many different sized shows lately with various turnouts
Been some stuff that has been easy to get, but then others that have still been very hard tickets. Phish Sphere, Sierra Ferrell, Sierra Hull, Molly Tuttle, and Haken were all very hard tickets. I couldnt even get into Haken. But then shows like Goose arent selling in the area, Phish still has tickets available for their shows here
Saw Daniel Donato sell-out a random ass venue in New Berlin, IL, but then play a pretty tame crowd in St. Louis a few weeks later. It really seems to be hit-and-miss regardless of band size
You will have people with lots of hype who sell better and will obviously have markets that do better, but most bands arent consistently selling out their shows
Billy Strings and Bob Weir reading this thread

Dead and Company tickets are super easy
Band still gets the same giant paycheck regardless.
Look at this guy buying name brand cereal. You can buy the bort with that kinda money.
so basically just U2, Phish, and Dead and Company - so far
