Not until next week for my stats’ sake, bud.
The discussion about 2007, and @Yawnspterodactyl rec of going through the Outstanding Versions thread, encouraged me to see if there’s some gems, from 07-09, that I’ve glossed over. I noticed that after the DUMB tour, they kinda start doing more untz and dancy things, and it was kinda cool to pick up on. Other thing I gathered is they don’t make HBB like they used to, and I could use more Uncle Wally in my life.
It wasn’t just DUMB that influenced their sound then it was STUM as well. Hence some of the fire jams late 2013 after STUM 2.0 that summer. I can’t believe I almost cancelled my Eurotrip to follow Radiohead around in 2008 to do the whole STUM tour that summer. They could use another STUM tour again I think.
Also you’ve heard the Paris and Ogden Baths from 06/07 right?
Both of those are great. Ogden is more my taste of the 2. I’ve spun 06/10/07 and that’s pretty dope too.
4/21/07 used to get tons of love and hype. It’s a solid show, but I think there was lots of Chicago and “I was there” fluff. Guilty on both accounts tbh. The free zoo show the next day was a lot of fun. It was one of the first warm days of the year and the park was packed.
I was not there and played it repeatedly long before connecting with other fans that could share their opinions with me. I can’t recall what I loved about it because I haven’t heard it in years, but it sure had high replay value to me.
I remember The Haunt with the Ms. Robinson’s Strut jam being my favorite from that show. Havent put it on in years though. That would be a fun relisten at this point, might have to throw it on sometime this week
The print for the upcoming SE April run will have something mentioned about the autism charity etc. Pretty stoked for that!
Yep. If you can believe it some folks complained back in the day about the untzier direction of 2008.
I wasn’t a huge fan at the time iirc but I was also entering my jaded phase of UM fandom by mid 2008 through basically all of 2009…
Last night I was going through April of 08, and found a hidden gem in the style of a Bright Lights from 4/10/08. Dance party jam with some Billy Jean samples. It didn’t make the Outstanding Versions, but it’s better than any BLBC that I’ve heard lately.
Will proceeds go to the charity from print sales? Definitely buy one if that’s the case even though I’m not going to this run.
X amt of all merch sales for that run will be donated
Well they make the tour merch available online, for the same donation opportunity?
Good question. I’ll ask and see!
Ftfy
April 08 is choice. Still bummed I didn’t make the long ass drive to make 4/5 St Louis show. 4/1 Blue Echo is so good
It was good
I absolutely love the 4/5/08 JaJunk
