I was actually thinking that it is sultan who is the highest bidder, which is why he’s trying to get people to actually pay for the song so that he doesn’t tarnish his name in the great Vfj community and will actually have something to do with the band other than being a rail pimp custy.

Bingo. He made it so high he couldn’t lose and then had to find a way to honor it. I mean, why else would he really want to get that kind of cash from strangers if he didn’t have anything to lose? Word gets out he was highest to bid but couldn’t pay his reputation with the band and the community would be fucked beyond repair thus losing his credibility (if he ever had any).
