Kris Myers out

The conversation started something like this, you want some pig balls? I said I’m trying to shit

Srsly though ST, half of remind me, and Speak Up are the only good songs on its not us, and Attachments is the only good song from the leftovers. You could cut half of AFAF also. But I’ll defend silent type damnit, it’s fun.

I respect this, I think I prefer Bad Friday in the niche of “fun” and Attachments for the “singalong” niche. But Silent Type is adequate in my book.

14+ year old “cables” jam that was better as a lyrical stew than an actual song…sure. I’m glad you like it.

100% agree with Remind Me, Speak Up, and Attachments. All great songs and I’m happy any time they play those. Another more recent tune I love is Pure Saturation. But thats 3-4 songs out of like 25 in the past 3-4 albums…not a good average. To be fair - it’s friggin hard to write great songs - and killer riffs - year after year. There are only so many Puppet Strings, or The Floor, or Tinkles, or 1348, or 2x2, or Bridgeless’ floating around in the universe - and to their credit, they brought those to us.I just haven’t connected at all with their attempt to be “more accessible”. And I think the band trajectory unfortunately supports that notion (no RR, WTF?!). And I wish they would take note. But it probably gets old to rely on ‘the oldies’ or the older formula too much. (Can’t believe I’m referring to those as oldies lol)

Song is like 10 years old?

Long term I could see this working out for the band tbh the more I think about it.

It’s a pretty damn intense job, I don’t think he would have lasted as long as the other guys as they aged, at least playing with his current level of intensity. I don’t mean that to knock him at all, he’s still my favorite member of the band. The level of impact clearly took a toll on him as we learned a few years ago.

A younger guy could go the distance and be bringing it for 20+ years. They could very easily be comfortable and kicking ass again within a few years.

True, Speak Up released in 2016. I was just responding to a post about ‘standout’ tunes from the last 3-4 albums. It’s def not that old, by comparison to some other I mentioned.

Interesting point

Lots of memories coming up for me today, tonight.

Omg. It finally happened. I cried to a jam that wasn’t Phish. Wow.

The Silent Type 11/22/21

This is the best set ever right? 11/22/21 set 1? I can’t even fathom anything being better than this. This is ridiculous.

Like. I can’t even right now. Words don’t matter. What in the actual fuck. I feel like I’m trying to describe my first LSD trip again to someone haha where words just aren’t even close to being able to convey it.

Wow.

How could anyone not love this?

Those first couple Cig lyrical stews were cool

They’ll probably announce a temp before the week is through. And if the temp ain’t bringing the temp, audition other options.

Staircase is a great tune. I f’n love it. It’s not getting enough credit imo

Kris is one of a kind. We’ll never see another drummer like him. The world was a better place the moment he joined UM. And everyday since

Hate that song too. Was at the show with the improv that Speak Up grew out of and I didn’t like it then.

I feel like Speak Up, Remind Me, It Doesn’t Matter, and Seasons all give off the same vibe. They feel like the same song to me.

I hope that Myers being gone doesn’t mean less jazzy jams and more chugs.

In other news, both r/jamband and r/umphreys are good for fullscale melts about the band ending if you’re interested in reading those takes
