Kris Myers out

At the end of the day i am happy he is going to get to do what he thinks is best for him

I am sure it was a very difficult move. Even if there were problems its still a band you gave 22 years of your blood, sweat, and tears to and friends you made lasting bonds with

Hope there isnt too much bad blood and both sides can find their own happy place

Even if the music suffers it might be for the best for them personally to have a more productive work space if there were conflicts. Not ideal but they had a pretty incredible run

I am lucky i got to witness a lot of it and feel lucky that i had a great time at the last two shows i saw. I dont have a bitter taste from a fan perspective

On the bright side, only 23 years until UM50!

After not seeing any UM shows for a year and half, I’m pretty content ending on the Chattanooga show and UMBowl this year. Probably will pump the brakes on caverns and ATL NYE but I’m content with the note I ended on seeing them on.

Because this is clearly all about how I feel about their concluding point

:joy:

They’ve been selling out many dates on this tour.

All of this is exactly what I was thinking. Plus, he just recently got married. Gotta imagine that was a big factor. The execution is very off, though.

I can’t imagine anyone out there that can not only play at Kris’s level in all the genres he plays in, but improvise in them and weave them in and out of the same jam/song. Pretty devastating blow to the band and those of us who still care. I’ve gone from 8-10 shows a year down to one or two in recent years, and I’m still super bummed at the news.

Ok. So he’s out. Lol@ just giving up.
Get a younger super talented awesome drummer that not many know about and definitely don’t fill the role with some journeyman.
22 years dude did this.

It would be awesome if they did tryouts and an actual fan (better yet, a borter) got the part

I mean, who knows their music better than someone that actually has listened to their music for years?

So if I’m reading all of this right… Kris injured his rotator cuff from doing blow and yanking it. The band covered for him and said it was a drumming injury. He got surgery, recovered, started playing again but quickly relapsed and started yanking it again on coke binges. Band saw the writing on the wall and axed him. Also, he was fine all of those years when he was unmarried and could have coke frenzied sex with fans, but now that he’s shacked up and probably not having sex with his wife on the road, he’s driven back to cocaine, chronic masturbation and continued shoulder problems. Kris, for his part, will be playing less shows so he can have more sex and thus avoid the temptation to bate it

Now Umphreys’s looking for a non drug using and/or asexual drummer to fill the void???

The Silent Type is a good song, leads to a lot of singalongs and everyone loves it, or so I thought. But yeah, a lot of the newer material was just kinda forgettable. I liked AFAF but they didn’t play those songs enough really. Most of it’s not you / it’s me was where I realized I wasn’t connecting much anymore. I had an awesome time at my last show though (1/31/25).

I have connected with a new UM song in probably the last 5-10 years (other than Hiccup, maybe).

Would love for @ass or another mod to share the user / traffic figures from today.
