Unfortunately it set a very high bar for future Isbell shows. Fortunately I like the majority of the new album.

Seriously, jfc. Live Oak might be my #1 Isbell song. Only managed to catch it once and it wasn’t at a normal show

This was my first Isbell show. Southeastern heavy since it was 2014.

I always forget about songs she sang in the shower. Such a great song

Lyrics that help create images in my head.

Always liked this McMurtry cover. Video quality is bad but it sounds fine.

I’ll also add that Honeysuckle Blue is an awesome cover, was a lot of fun last night. Does looks like he played it at damn near every show the last few years though.

That’s a Drivin n’ Cryin song. Sadler Vaden was in that band prior to joining the 400 unit. Love that tune.

Sadler is a killer guitar player, have always liked watching him play live

Agreed. Its also so cool how many guitars those guys cycle through in one set. I counted 9 guitars last night for Isbell alone and that was without me being able to tell if he was playing a different acoustic each time. Didn’t even try and keep track of Sadler too. Love it.

Been diving into this dude’s catalog. Love it. What’s up with the DBT? Anything worth checking out from that catalog?

An essential American band IMO. Isbell is on Decoration Day and Dirty South which are some of their better records, as well is A Blessing and a Curse which is hit or miss IMO.

Decoration Day, Outfit, Danko/Manuel, Goddamn Lonely Love, and Never Gonna Change are some of Isbells Best and are all on DBT records.

My recording of the other night. Came out really well, some phasing from wind and crowd movement makes it a better speaker listen than headphone, but very direct sounding tape:

Sounds like a really good recording, thanks!

King of Oklahoma was really good from your recording, Ben, sounds like they extended it a few minutes. Same with Dreamsicle.

Even the songs I didn’t initially like are growing on me (a little)

Finally got around to watching the HBO doc and thought it was really enjoyable. Isbell always seems like such an authentic dude through his songs and it is cool to hear more of his story.

“‘Try That In A Small Town,’ for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief,” Aldean — a native of Macon, Georgia, the state’s fourth most populous city with over 150,000 residents — stated. “Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences. My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least one day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to – that’s what this song is about.”

“Seriously how do you defend the content of a song you weren’t even in the room for?,” Isbell (a native of Greenhill, Alabama whose population is less than 5,000 people) tweeted in response to Aldean. “You just got it from your producer. If you’d been there when it was written, you’d be listed as a writer. We all know how this works.”

Country singer Jake Owen, who grew up perusing professional golf in the suburbs between Orlando and Tampa, responded to “tough guy” Isbell by telling him, “In ‘my small town’ you just walk up to the guy and be a man to his face if you want the smoke.”

I liked the tweet that said something like “in our small town we approach the other person and talk to them like a man.”

looks like last night he let the liquor talk.
