Damn that’s a bummer. I can’t stand when egos get in the way of UM being able to book shows places. From my understanding, there is some beef with the dude who owns the Pink Gartner in Jackson Hole and one of the band members or something like that and that’s why the band never booked Jackson Hole.
Blockquote “I’ll take all the rest of the letters down so it evens itself out, how about that? That’s my quote,” Suher told Daily Hampshire Gazette reporter Michael Majchrowicz Monday.
Lol he’s such an asshole. Calvin has potential to be a beautiful, well run venue and he just never invests back into the property to make it great. Pearl Street is another venue in town that is an absolute dump. Absolutely ridiculous pat downs, shitty sound, no AC.
In one of the most notorious examples, which the Advocate dubbed “Nightmare on Pearl Street,” 100-plus temperatures and a lack of water during a Baroness show at the Pearl Street Nightclub in 2016 caused nearly 200 people to complain on social media about the club.
At the opposite end of the thermometer, Vanessa Carlton called for a boycott of IHEG venues after experiencing frigid temperatures on stage, as well as dilapidated furniture in the Iron Horse green room.
Well, I guess my dreams of returning to NoHo for Umphrey’s anytime soon aren’t going to happen haha.
It will be interesting to see once the indoor venues reopen across the country which promoters made it and if we see any positive changes to the industry after having the rugged pulled out from under it so abruptly last year.
Was just about to ask if I was going to see the Disco Biscuits at Summer Meltdown 2021 but looks like that was cancelled recently. Oh well. Bummer. Biscuits were supposed to return to Oregon in 2020 for the first time in 19 years.
Love the audacity to say this “The performer was cold on the stage. The venue temp was 70 degrees.” in response to 200 people plus the band complaining it was unbearably hot lol. The ultimate “well, actually…”
Lol that is actually from two different venues. Pearl St is known for just being a stuffy hot box. I’ve seen people pass out at Dopapod a few years ago. The Ironhorse stage butts up to an exterior window so I have to imagine it gets pretty cold in the winter.
Also this is their “green room” for artists. Some of the responses are hilarious given the fact that this guy is a known scumbag.
I remember Joel tweeting something about how they’ll probably never play there again after the way the band was treated last time. Probably the only time I’ve ever heard him trash talk anyone professionally
OMG LOL that letter to the police chief crying about non-existent property damage during the “George Lloyd” protests, after looking at pictures of his shitty venue
I know this is an extremely difficult time for you and your department, and I want you to know how much I appreciate the work done by the NPD on a daily basis to keep our city safe. I bleed blue when I see how much disrespect is shown to law enforcement, especially when horrible situations occur like that which killed George Lloyd in Minneapolis.
hahahahaahahahaha
You weren’t around for the big Joel rant on Larry Bell back in the day hahaha.
Anyone else here remember that. Joel was pissed!
Yeah I remember that as well. That dude is the worst

These ended up getting put up all over Noho and his venues few years ago and keep popping up every few months.
guy seems like a legend tbh. reminds me of like every music promoter I knew in the twin cities scene back when I played
7/3/12 DBK
I’ve been putting together next week‘s playlist in my head. @Andrusy ill be using your choice that you posted. Same with you @gatroe
Keep the suggestions rolling if you guys have any
Clever
4/30/08 Atmosfarag. Such a killer, evil jam.
Adding it to the list!
Love this jam. Also one of the all time great Reso’s came from that show
Yeah, that 40’s > Reso → Theme is incredible. The drop into Reso, glitchy first jam with the huge peak, and the Kitchen tease into the perfectly executed extended segue back into 40’s. Wild Tribute from that show too. That show didn’t have a ton of jams but the setlist was great and all of the improv was excellent.
Here’s the playlist for the week. Thanks @gatroe , @nextmovement41 and @Bron-yr-Aur and @Whinergetsnothing for some of the ideas.
Nemo (10.03.08 Muncie, IN) - this was talked about a little on the old Bort. Dash bort not so much
Room to Breathe > Sociable Jimmy > Go To Hell, Visions > Roon to Breathe (10.17.12 Port Chester, NY) - @Whinergetsnothing mentioned this in another thread and damn it’s a nice segment
KaBump > Cocaine (8.28.13 Charlotte, NC) - nice segment as @nextmovement41 stated
Atmoafarag (4.30.08 Urbana, IL) - nice
08 version here. Thanks @Bron-yr-Aur
The Fuzz (2.28.10 Northampton, MA) - thanks @gatroe for this one!
Bright Lights (09.25.10 Oklahoma City, OK) - Nice dance party from an underrated show
Making Flippy Floppy (7.17.08 Columbus, OH) - 16 minute dance party!
Blue Echo (10.6.10 Arcata, CA) - nice version from this show
Phil’s Farm (10.27.11 Tuscaloosa, AL) - solid version here that at least warrants a listen.
Enjoy the playlist!
Thanks again for making these. Do you happen to timestamp the jams anywhere? Would be nice to hack an improv comp out of these recommendations if I knew where to splice the track with little to no effort lol.
And to add to the thread. 2.9.10 Spires, particularly the second half, is an underrated soaring, uplifting bliss jam.
