Went to 4.8.08 and my friend didn’t have his passport so we bailed on driving through Canada for 4.9. I remember watching that setlist roll in on the Bort that night…stung like hell haha.

2/28/10 The Fuzz. Not a long jam by any means but absolutely beautiful UM. Some of Jake’s most tasteful licks at the beginning. Emotional, uplifting stuff here. Starts pretty low key but Myers explodes and sets this one off. Great teased segue to 40’s as well.
This is one of the first UM shows where I really got it. It also has the best Fancy reprise of all time and is a songlist show so it’s worth checking out.

Yeah nothing mind blowing in terms of improv aside from the Fancy reprise but songlist shows are always fun!

9/14/11 Kabump. Obviously the OoO, Visions > Qbert segment always gets fluffed but I’ve always been a big fan of the Kabump just for its uniqueness.
Jam starts off with a blues shuffle from Jake on electric which transitions to a dance jam by the end with both Jake and Brendan switching to acoustic halfway through before → Dim Sun debut.
Anyone know of any other times they switched to acoustics mid jam? Actually curious about that.

You were there brah? I went with Terruntz and this Tourgar I was hanging out with at the time. Plus BurtHerdbath or whatever Jason’s Bort handle was. After the show the homies were smoking weed at the car and cop rolls up. Takes the weeds and lets everyone go. Close calls in NoHo.

Oh yeah that was my second show. It would be years before I found the Bort. Noho is 20 minutes from home so I think I flew solo for this one.

I wish they’d go back to that venue. I got kicked out of the 2013 show for partying too hard and asking where an ATM was at but I would love to go back. That’s a fun town to see Umphrey’s in. Two nights there like the Biscuits would do would be sick.

I could go type 2 talking about IHEG (company who runs most Noho venues) but he tl;dr is that the guy who owns it is a piece of shit. Owns a bunch of vacant stores in town asking too much for a small business to succeed. Doesn’t care for any venues, doesn’t pay employees, always fighting with the town.
I believe they don’t play there anymore because IHEG took issue with them live streaming shows.
Also, almost every show they’ve played there has been absolute fire.

It’s a shame because Noho is a super cool. It reminds me of a mini Burlington, VT. Too bad this asshole is in control of all the entertainment that comes into town.
