Yes sir, that one comes out of nowhere.
Just awesomely absurd. Wasn’t seeing the band in 2011 and I am tempted just to go ahead and listen to all shows chronologically that year. Great stuff from every show i’ve dug into
2011 is up there with 2007 and 2019 as some of my favorite years of UM.
06 vs 08 pick one and why
06 because they were still kinda loose, bouncebacks were plentiful and they haven’t yet delved too deep into the more dancey jams that we saw a lot of in 08.
Plus I started to get burnt out on UM in 08 and was transitioning to the dark side of the great Bort Biscuits Insurgency of 09.
I was a founding member.
Top 5 2006 shows not in November
Hmmmm…
2/10 Milwaukee WI
2/15 Providence RI
3/26 Chicago IL
8/25 Bean Blossom IN
9/07 Grand Rapids MI
Honorable mentions…
4/21 New York NY (CBGB!)
5/05 Philadelphia PA
6/09 Columbus OH
I need to pick your brain more frequently for posterity purposes.
Anytime, I am very well versed from July 04 when I first started seeing them through 07 then I’m only kinda knowledgable lol
Attendance bias but 7/19/06 is one I revisit often. Set 1 and encore are really good. SF1 covers a lot of ground with three different sections. Incredible song selection in that first set
That was a great lil run Gus! The Pines was such a cool place to see UM…ah, the good ole days!
Amazing place to catch a show for sure!
This was my first show and I haven’t listened back in years. Definitely giving it an anniversary spin next week after seeing this.
Hindsight 1/25/19
Listen to this Linear from KC ‘12
@Albert.Ross is a good source for 2009-2019 Umphrey’s. I remember our first tour together driving from Portland to Missoula in 2014 and him and I trading jams the whole way. Definitely lit me up on some sick 2012 stuff I was unaware of.
Another 2012 gem is the Wormbog from 2/9/12 Buffalo. Truth be told, the entire show is outstanding!
Will add that to the queue. If it’s got that flow I gots to know!
You’ll love it!
I may be jumping the gun but I am going to say tonight’s second set will be a burner. It just feels like undersold with no webcasts might light a fire under the their ass and treat those who made the trip.
