Bokante played that show too

Truth. Ratdog was the best post-Jerry band imo. I’m absolutely all about some JRAD though

I love JRAD too. No way am I choosing a cover band over the real thing though. That’s just bananas.

Agreed 100%.

What JRAD has been doing, in terms of how they approach the timeless music of the Dead, has been a serious breath of fresh air. Those guys are just amazing at what they’re doing, and I will see them every chance I get. I f’n love the fact that a big jam can come out of any song & can catch ya totally off guard.

That being said, there’s nothing quite like the GD when they’re firing on all cylinders.

The only post-Jerry project that comes close to JRAD were those April '99 Phil and Phriends shows

P&F has some amazing tours with Jimmy Herring in the early 00’s that can hold up with any of those Phil and Phriends shows.

Plus Ratdog with Kimock in the early 00’s was just as good too.

Speaking of the Dead and Jimmy Herring, no one should let the stuff he did with Jazz is Dead fly under their radar

I’ll take that Viola Lee Blues from Phil and Phriends over any of the other Phil tours 100x over

Jazz is Dead >>>> JRAD

Meh. I’ll take Kimock or Jimmy over those shows anyday.

Kimock is apart of those shows, tho

Those Phil and Phriends shows are heads above any JRAD offering. And I am sure it could be argued the “Quintet” was also “better.”

(Sure, JRAD pushes and explores. But any band with Tom Hamilton fronting and singing already has points docked against it.)

Ha, you really hate Phish, huh? Cant even enjoy one of the best Dead Project runs ever.

Also, I love THam, so him fronting jrad doesnt bug me. For me, though, JRAD is all about Joe and Marco.

Those Phil and Phriends shows are absolutely the best that P&F has ever been

Honestly didn’t even know that. You called my bluff, listened to that show maybe once like 10 years ago. My rant was mostly just because in 25 years since Jerry’s death to say the only thing that comes close to JRAD is the one show they happend to play with the Phish guys. Especially when a band like Jazz is Dead gets mentioned. There’s been SO many little side projects and shows that have completely killed it.
