2006 run was such a blast! Really all of them from 05-12 were. 09 and 2012 being the bottom of that list, but still lots of great moments from both

Marcus King was great for those 2 asheville shows, he was REALLY hitting the spot for me both nights.

Yeah I loved catching Marcus at the riverside for um and then a small venue in Madison on Sunday.

I also hit up the high noon MKB show. Was a blast. Love that dude.

Surprised it took so long for these guys to get mentioned.

It is crazy to think of JRAD opening for UM. I feel like they are twice the size of UM at this point.

No way

JRAD is huge. I am just comparing it to venues they both play. JRAD will sell out places like The Pageant, Red Rocks, Riv/Northerly Island all within a couple weeks of being on sale, months in advance. Whereas UM wont even sell out those places day of most of the time. They definitely have a much higher demand.

Yeah but I imagine a large part of that is from playing dead songs.

Well yea, I am just saying its crazy to think of them opening for UM. JRAD is incredible, though. Hands down one of my favorite bands to see live. Yes, they are a cover band, but the musical conventions those guys have on stage is out of this world. Cant think of too many other bands I see live where I can not take my eyes off the musicians the whole show. Those dudes are masters.

Yeah I love them too. Always a good time. Just was saying that I think it’s not the most fair comparison due to them getting demand just from their catalogue but then again that doesn’t take away from your point. Demand is demand and it’s true. JRAD is more in demand.

It kinda sucks sometimes. JRAD red rocks last year was one of the most uncomfortable concert experiences I have had in years. Great show, but it was far and away one of the most oversold shows I have ever seen. People couldn’t find spots in any rows and were packed all the way in the back past the concession areas at the very top. Like that whole area up there was stuffed with people looking for dance space and a place to stand.

I feel like that’s a pretty large area to be crowded by necessity during a show, that sounds miserable.

Yea, they had to have sold at least 1-2k more tickets than they were supposed to. Luckily during set break I found a friend to let me squeeze in with them. Almost left half way through the first set because I was so uncomfortable

JRAD is definitely way bigger here in DC. They sold out a room that didn’t even open the balcony for UM on halloween

Interesting. I like JRAD all right but as a casual Dead fan they’ve never been top tier to me. I guess they’re more popular than I thought.

Yeah that JRAD show at the Anthem was absolutely packed. Nowhere to go, couldn’t move. It felt just like a Dead show though so I wasn’t mad about it.

If you haven’t seen them much, I would give it another chance. Can only think of a couple bands I would rather see. JRAD on a good night is pure bliss.

It definitely helps that I am a huge Dead fan, but even some of my friends who arent are always blown away by them
