I really enjoyed seeing Tauk open when they were a new thing (to me) and it was a novelty.
And then we all know what happened…

Yeah I enjoyed their opening sets in Madison in 2016. I don’t care to ever listen to Tauk but as an opener, they were better than most.
I think Tauk is solid, would never need to see them more than once or twice but I like a number of their songs. Felt like unfortunately they opened for UM for about 2 whole years, talk about overkill. But KB couldn’t turn down that Dolan bribe money
Tortoise and the Wailers that run.
Agreed
100% the worst. Good god.
I literally cannot remember a single opener I’ve ever seen at a UM show. Maybe just a coincidence because I feel like a lot of the shows I’ve seen them at haven’t had an opener?
Billy strings was pretty good
I was a huge fan of the Los Lobos night on 12-30-06 & the Hidalgo sit in on Thin Air.
I didn’t see them with UM but Bright Light Social Hour is solid.
Really would love a Post Animal opening slot, am I right @James
Good luck today bros. My ticket anxiety is sky high. Yay.
That was 2009.
Just looking at 2006; quite the line-up: No. Mississippi All Stars, Los Lobos, and Taj Mahal.
100%. That was one of my first canceled covid shows on 4/16. Still haven’t seen em but would really love to.
Yup, had my tickets for 3/14
Now THAT was a hell of a run. My first time in Chicago, too!
They were great. Zappa Plays Zappa and JRAD across the two nights at RR were pretty great. I enjoy Tauk, but man that just went on foreeeeevvverrrrrr.
Was it Work Drugs the awful band that Wade was super hype on?
ZPZ and JRAD for sure.
Sinkane is awesome, and also opened @ Red Rocks
Totally forgot that Snarky Puppy opened at one point. That woulda been cool
Yes. Bruce Hornsby was on that run, as well. I made it out to Red Rocks for that run.
(I didn’t think Work Drugs was that awful. But I enjoy Dream Pop and Chillwave every so often. I find “Rad Racer” to be catchy as hell.)
I didn’t catch the ZPZ. Still kicking myself for going to Slow n Co that night. But JRAD opener was awesome. Billy Strings and Marcus King would be my other 2 fav witnessed.
