Speak Up is great

Yeah listening back and the entire 2:30 - 13:30 seems to be based somewhat loosely on the Bridgeless and then the Kitchen dance jam. This would be the spot to go into type 2 jams if they ever play it again.

The ending is a little too Draconian-esque but it was super powerful in the moment.

I look at set three and I’m like really? That’s all you got for us at UMBOWL?

The riv fucking sucks.

Had a great weekend tho

Saturday niiiight, Bayliss said “play the hits, sll of them”. Another classis example of the ending of Bridgeless cutting off(jo) a good jam. They put such an insistence on finishing these songs it holds them back sometimes. That EG was going places then> Qualude Thunder puts an end to it. Just end the set with a jam. I love Bridgeless but cmon guys. Great show overall tho, best for Chicago in a while. I like this Speak Up, they tried to throw us a bone in there at beginning and the segue ~> Bridgeless is nice too

Oh man…either that or finally getting a New Year’s run in that room would be the shit.

Listening to the first set now. I like exit signs a lot. I was hoping that Nemo stew would get used and I think they fit it in nicely

Yup, but at the same time, it also isn’t surprising UM ran out of gas on the 6th set in two nights

Out of Focus also seems way too long to be in regular rotation. If they cut the Blue Echo and Little Kids section, it would have the perfect cohesiveness to be a proper jam vehicle.

Little Kids should be its own song though. Really catchy tune

Raw Stewage songs should be from no more than 3 Stews imo…gotta leave a little breathing room.

Im through the first two and can’t say I’m a fan of either

@Southern_Dan you’re missing Bort Survivor

Is Little Kids the funky Bee Gees / Abba-esque segment? If so yeah that was fantastic.

I’m really inclined to cut the band a break on the third set more than normal. The band was more visibly exhausted possibly than I’ve ever seen them. The decision to have the band pick set be the weekend closer was poor though - plan that better perhaps. But after how well the rarities and DBK went on night 1 and raw stewage on night 2, the final 2 sets were basically free to me, which ended up being a good thing, because not much happened in them.

IMO it was a pretty up-and-down two nights but the highlights were really big. DBK, Front Porch, Raw Stewage, Moog > Robots, Serving > Small Strides were all real good.

Wasnt that into the raw stewage set on tape. Going to listen again on headphones, but a little too many lego pieces. Sure it was way cooler live.

Friday set 1 is easily the best set of the run on tape, IMO.
