2019 UM Thread

This is actually really cool, ya custie bitch. Are those horizontal blue lines on the left side just a reflection, or some kind of lighting?

That’s daylight coming through the shades (which I can’t close all the way), there’s also the reflection of my dual monitors on the poster since it’s mounted right behind my home office space. The glass itself is treated to prevent sun damage so that’s why the light looks so blue.

My man

I think 2019 stands on its own strengths but respect for being a 2/15 man

No love for the 6/1 Plunger? I flagged that one as my fav for 2019, but then again my playlists are pretty heavily composed of the uplifting/poppy jams

6/1 is very nice for a 1 set festival show

2019 is such a good year for Plunger. Among the best along with 07 IMO.

2/15 and 8/15 are top dogs of course but there’s also 3/22, 3/29, summer camp, 6/1, I think I remember 8/24 being good

I want to compile a list of really great nonstop segments from this year. 8/17 and 8/30 have the obvious choices but I’m trying to think what else is out there

Not quite at the caliber of those two but 8/25 Spires > Blue Echo is a pretty nice 25 minute segment. Standalone neither jam is top tier but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts

This segment is pretty nonstop thru Booth & Orfeo too, right? I recall this Spires jam being pretty excellent.

Yeah I remember liking that segment too

Feel like this was discussed earlier in the thread but…

10/18 Looks > FF > Conduit > N2F

This is really hot. Great Looks jam, huge FF w/ a beautiful Joel solo, pretty standard Condy, and a really nice N2F reprise. Lot of jams in this segment.

This Spires is great, relistening now. That is one song I’ll never be upset to catch live.

Ocean Billy was a real under the radar jam vehicle of 2019…was not played all that frequently but almost all of them were very strong. Obviously everyone fluffs the wild 1/12 version, but 3/1, 4/3, 7/3, and 10/31 are pretty great,

I don’t think any of those really stuck out for me other than 1/12. Been a while but I remember them being a little too type 1 for what I want out of a billy. I like 2/27/20 a lot though

Diving into the Brooklyn run now since I gained access to videos of those. Man, 2/14 is one of those shows that is just so absurdly good it explains why I’m so hard on this band 90% of the time. And we still have that Plunger to come next show!

The huge standouts here are definitely Ringo 2nd jam and 1348. Ringo is just a classic Jake chord progression jam but the band are in such lockstep here and really deliver it well and quickly. 1348 is usually either a dark, eerie jam or a dance jam and it’s nice to see the first section here be neither of those things, going into some beautiful ambience before the band slowly transitions over, one member at a time (Stasik is first) into a more traditional eerie section.

Yeah I love 2/14. Can’t forget Blue Echo either! I love Kris on that jam

Having listened to the Brooklyn run, 2/14 is the best show of that run! Love the Blecho, especially.
