I had 8.15 as a lock, mainly because @Bron-yr-Aur knows my tastes in UM really well, and he’s never let me down on a recommendation.
I was deciding between 8.30, 7.3 and 10.23. That was a tough choice, I have to admit.
8/30 is great but a little uneven. Not sure 10/23 is quite as good as the others despite the huge RW.
3/29 is the next show I’d look into although it’s not as proggy. It does have its proggy spots though. Just an all around amazing show start to finish with a little more variation in styles of improv
I read your early post about 3/29. I have that in the vault for a future listen/purchase! I didn’t grab 8/30 and 10/23 ultimately for the same exact reasons you posted.
Yeah IMO 7/3, 8/15 and 3/29 are the true top 3 of 2019 other than 12/30, but there’s not much point in buying that SBD when you can listen to the obvious highlight Ringo on YouTube.

Is the 2nd set of 12/30 not that great? I LOVE that Ringo, though. I just never bothered listening to the 2nd set.
I like it a lot but obviously the big highlight of 12/30 is the hour long Ringo. Set 2 is really good considering they jammed for an hour in set 1 and you’d think they’d be out of gas, but I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing set 2 or anything. I would still say that pound for pound, 12/30 is probably the best 2019 show, but it’s very much because of set 1.

I do love UM doing some Billy Joel so w/ Scenes and a very good 1348 that second set is pretty solid.

While 10/23 as a whole is probably more standard great to most, but man there are some great moments in that show. Robot > Loose Ends > Fussy…AIT > Last Train Home is a nice stretch of music
Agree with this. Far and away shows. 10/23 is a great show though imo. Best I saw last year. Little Gift and 2x2 have some nice improv as well. And the second set may be better than the first. Straight up dance party.
AiT, ITK, and Booth are all pretty hot. The AiT w/ Last Train Home at the end is fucking beautiful

I’d probably agree with those three but 2/15 is strong as fuck and I think 8/3 could round out a top 5.
I listened to 8/3 the other day because of this thread. Forgot how good that show is.
2/15 is top 5 no question, prob top 3 for me.
Underrated first set w/ a great Red Tape & NN > Little Gift. Still my fav version of LG even w/ the longer 8/30 & 3/23 versions.

Feel free to call me a custy bitch but here’s my shrine to the 7/3 Anaheim show. Signed drumhead and setlist was like $115 on a charity auction on ebay, bought the poster at the show, custom framing from Michaels was the most expensive at ~$200.
Glad to see it wasn’t just attendance bias that had me thinking this show was top tier.

Totally agree the posters can be super hit or miss…and I rarely like foil versions but in this instance it really makes it pop.
OK…so having now heard both the 2/15 and 8/15 Plungers…2/15 Plunger is where shit gets really weird, and in a good way. 8/15 Plunger gets both weird and metal. The edge, for me, goes to 8/15, but by a slight margin. They’re both stellar versions! 1A and 1B, for lack of a better term.
2/15 Plunger has really grown on me after a few listens and I now understand the hype. I like it way more than the 8/15 version. I have been slowly making my way through that nugs playlist. Been pleasantly surprised by how much I have enjoyed a lot of it. That said, I still feel like 2019 has gotten way too much hype, and the reason it is loved so much is just because of how mediocre they had been for so long prior. It really is a breath of fresh air
