This thread would pair well with a well-done steak w/ ketchup
In other words, you donât hear color?
Iâm making lomo saltado for dinner tonight. Is this OK or do I need to ask permission? Let it be known that I did go to a Hispanic market to buy most of my ingredients.
But in general, i think as long as you dont try to intentionally be an asshole, and have at least a shimmer of a good intention in your heart, i am guessing most minorities arent getting too fired up about me bopping my head to Eminem and Utopian Fir.
tonight on⌠SJB Beatdown
This is kind of my point. Itâs okay to hear color in music, itâs the same thing as saying âI donât see colorâ. Itâs not racist to say that but it can come off as short sighted to some.
No jam
I agree.
But you can literally see color, color is not something you can hear so i donât think itâs the fairest of comparisons.
My point is that this is a valid discussion that many minority musicians have, but itâs getting laughed at and joked about here. You can make all the sarcastic jokes you want but that doesnât mean that actual people outside this DBMB arenât taking this discussion seriously.

I dono, i have heard some people talk who were obviosly white as fuck. Including in this thread.
Weâre still talking 311? This is the most attention theyâve had since the down video
I understand this isnât directed at me but Iâm just throwing it out there that I am trying to ask genuine, sincere questions to understand this better.
311 are racist.
Summary
I have no idea whatâs going on, just saw that @stringz @âd me
Also, I canât type on my phone
you know what blue or green or purple sounds like?
The conversation is about acknowledging race (and consequentially systemic injustice), not about literally hearing colors.
When someone says âI donât see colorâ in the context of race, do you think itâs about medical colorblindness?
Just think of how famous and how much money Elvis made off of covering black musicianâs songs. He became one of the most successful musicians of all time playing covers of black musicians that were still living in poverty. Record producers and TV put his face everywhere but most of his fans had no clue those songs he was playing were covers. So they saw very little backtrack of Elvis fans getting into their music because they liked his covers.
This is super off-topic, but as someone who is medically colorblind i get annoyed when people assume i can not see any color, or ask me to name color of items for their amusement. Carry on.
obviously not, my point is loosely based on the fact that Johnny Winter is white as a ghost but you wouldnât know that by listening to a recording of him.
How many fingers am I holding up?
