Obligatory yearly post, but this show can never get too much love. This will likely always remain in the top 10, if not top 5, of my 220+ UM shows I’ve attended.

Day late annual bump ![]()
Killer fucking show. The matrix is on archive/relisten
Exactly one year prior to my first UM show, this is one of my most listened to shows ever. My first was no slouch either!
Yes this one is fantastic as well
On this day in 2014. Love that palindrome in the second set. It was a shame they didn’t sell the show well, the Fox was kick ass!
Had a blast up in the sparsely populated balcony for that show, glad we got to see them at the Fox once! Because it was so undersold, the venue was wholly unprepared for the amount of drinking UM fans wanted to do and there were some absolutely massive bar lines. Staff scrambled to open up a bar on the 2nd floor sometime close to setbreak, so the mashup to open set 2 ended up being the perfect time to finally grab a beer.
drove down with a bunch of first timers for this one and hooked them pretty easily. on the way down my buddy got a call that his piss test came back diluted and he would have to re-submit on Monday. He was job searching and had just smoked his first bowl in a month on I55 thinking he was in the clear. didn’t get the job.
show was great, we were in the seats just barely under the balcony overhang. great view and hands down the best lights I ever saw from Waful. they had a bunch of real sweet elderly people assisting people to their seats pre show which was nice, didn’t see much of them past the 40 minute mark of S1
palindrome is super hot and the blue echo finds a fierce groove pretty quickly, always loved that one.
You should ask your buddy if it was worth it in hindsight to smoke weed and see this show lmao. This one is in my top 10 so I hope it was! I agree with your take on Waful, this was one of the larger indoor canvases I got to see him paint.
We’ve seen 40+ UM shows since and hes done pretty well career wise so I’d confidently respond yes for him. It was a job at John Deere he missed out on, ended up moving into a dope apartment across from the Summerfest grounds with a best friend and the rest is history.
23 years ago today was a serious f’n blast!!…

We got down to the venue from MKE @ like 7:30, and the band didn’t hit the stage until around 11:30 or 12:00. We had too much fun, but that many hours before the start was dangerous for sure.

This show was such a great time. We hit super shitty traffic through the Chicago area, and just barely made it inside the venue while the intro jam was still going on.
I had a buddy hop in the car at the last second, and he decided to eat a large piece of WOW that his buddy handed him right before he climbed into the backseat. I didn’t think that was a very good idea, but he was a trooper. When we hit the 90 minute traffic delay, he was less than comfy lying across the backseat while I cranked Ween on the ride…
…once we arrived, he then decided to lie down in the grass for almost the entire 1st set. He was able to gather himself for the 2nd set at least.
