I have pictures/video of him playing the Moog through Snucka. Can’t confirm on the 2nd set so I could be wrong there. That venue is far and away one of the worst places I’ve seen a show but multiple top shelf UM shows took place there.
I did Charlotte > Athens and couldn’t bring myself to make that drive either. Fuck that.
This is definitely in my Top 20 UM shows I’ve seen, honestly might be in my Top 10. I really should break down my top 20 at some point in the not-too-distant future…

AIT opener produces a very good jam before getting to Gulf Stream. The 12 minute jam after is ALB is so good. Frenetic, dance party. 5 song, all segue 1st set?? Solid 2nd set too, even with the Waist Down.
This show was a ton of fun. I still to this day feel a little guilty that nobody took our money at the door, and it was a benefit show. I was younger & didn’t wanna spend an extra $15 or whatever at the time, so I didn’t say shit.

Set 2: Dump City, Miami Virtue > Women Wine and Song > Der Bluten Kat[1], 1999

The song selection and flow are great. I felt like they could have jammed out GYMRH and that DBK was kinda a buzz kill (never thought I’d say that). That seque from WWS > DBK is interesting for sure. But the Dump City and Phils are excellent. Great show, great venue.
This show is fantastic! The entire second set is a really nice listen, especially the Dump & DBK for me. Can’t believe you are hating on that DBK, I really like it.
15 years ago… Final Word’s first appearance. The DBK is definitely worth a listen. Love how they do Bon Jovi at the beginning and end of it.
I remember a thread about worst openers. This would be the worst one I’ve seen. They were getting booed and chants of “we want Umphrey’s” during their set. Of course, get the nopener in the 2nd set.

Really solid show. Very odd feel inside what seemed like a big lecture hall, but very good set list & well played versions of Haunt, The Stranger, Roullette & Example 1 in the 1st set. Set break was super short, and we were walking back in from a quick trip to the car right as Divisions was starting. Also, I absolutely love Raymond & welcome any chance to see that one! Set 2 & encore were a ton of fun.
I had been through the beginnings of my cancer battle just 5 months before this one, and when the mid part of Syncopated came w/that low vibration part, Jake made a comment of that sound being a cure for cancer. I still wasn’t feeling back to 100%, and the few shows I saw that fall were such a great feeling. That Synco moment was odd, but gave me a good chuckle.

Atmosfarag opener is great. You could tell Jake and Kris we’re primed and ready. Push the Pig has the jam of the night: a mix of dance party and soaring, uplifting. Slow and patient build to a first peak, then kinda restarts to a second huge peak with Jake and Kris killing it. Ocean Billy next has a great jam as well. Kinda melancholy feel to Jakes playing. Nothing too crazy jam wise in the last 4 of the set. But great flow and song selection.
Set II has standard a Bridgeless and All in Time with a 13 days sandwiched in the middle. But back then I was still excited for a standard bridgeless and AIT. Between SFB and August is a nice bounce back stew. Stasik is laying down a nice slap line. August is worth the listen too. Beautiful work between Jake and Joel. So slow and patient. It’s beautiful. Joel needs to piano more.
“Before we rock, let’s hear some Bach” and Joel plays Solfegietto. I wouldn’t mind hearing Joel do something like that every show. No more tears to wind it up.
Definitely an excellent show. A- check out the PtP, Ocean Billy, and August for sure.

Obv everyone lost it over the rarities but the jams from this show are excellent, each one is very different from the next. And ever jam is great. Obv Liquid & Wizard are probably the highlights, but a 19min monster Phil’s delivers a real big slow-burning peak, and FF and IDM are very under-the-radar versions. I especially love the way IDM has Jake finding another gear and a beautiful silky tone at the end of the jam and just tearing through that melodic peak, that note he hits at 11:30 is…

I remember there was a lot of discussion on the old bort about the merits of this show and where it stood among the other good/great shows of 2011. I’m definitely a fan and it has a lot of replay value for me. Kabump is obviously the big highlight but the rocker II/bridgeless/bottom half/wappy are also very good
Rocker 2 jam isn’t super unique, esp relative to Rocker 2 jams from the time, but they destroy the peak. Botch the return to the song after but I’ve listened to that peak often.
1st of a pretty damn good 3 night run. Good jams throughout, especially #5, Ringo and Phil’s. HBB does get Upward’d but at least it’s before they came up with that slow, black&white fade to color ballot Upward that they play now. Red was a cool bustout. Spires doesn’t get a jam but the -> Phil’s is pretttty sweet. Emptiest I ever saw that room for an UM show, Thursday shows for the win.
10.20.2016 The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA, USA
Set 1: Glory > Plunger[1] > Room to Breathe, The Linear > Go to Hell, Deeper, #5 > 2nd Self
This show was incredible, and I will die on the hill of saying it is a top-tier 2011 show. I’m not saying it was top 5, but its probably top 10, IMO. Scoopy, iamkickit, and mittensmeller (or whatever gary’s handle was at that time), and I were always hyping it hard.
The Kabump is one of my favorite things the band has ever done. Bridgeless, Rocker 2, Wappy > Bottom Half, and Sociable > Sweetness > Bridgeless ending were all awesome. Great show.
This was the first UM show to give me that “feeling” since 2012, and the only one since. Only post-2012 show to make my top 20 list, and it would be right around top-10. Great night.
Day late and but this one’s worth my .02; Monday show in a market they’ll probably never get back to.

I’ve mentioned it before, but the Bridgeless made it onto one of the fall tour podcasts (http://umarchive.net/archives/podcasts/148-Autumnal-Recrudescence/) and it is pretty nice. 1st set is good flow wish despite there not being much inprov after the opening Bridgeless. I enjoy the Nemo sandwich, they were doing that back in '13, splitting up Nemo with an instrumental and Atmosfarag is a great choice to put in the middle of Nemo.
The main highlight is the amazing Reso -> Mulche’s, really loose and the segue into Mulche’s is some of the most buttery stuff I’ve ever heard them do. Nearly a 40 minute opening punch. Kabump is also enjoyable, 2nd jam is a solid, ominous dance party. State College is a small town but it’s a fun town, good times and a pretty damn good show

All time great versions of Spires & Slacker from night one. THe first half of the Slacker jam is so sublime, shimmering Rhodes meets syrupy guitar leads from Jake & BB.
N1 had the best jams but N2 was more of a complete show with interesting versions of MO, Ringo, Bottom 1/2 > Crooked and Fir.
