I realize I’m a few days late in posting this show. Sorry not sorry. Sunday woulda been my beloved Beck’s 66th b’day so we decided to have her Celebration of Life on that day. It was a good little gathering. Anyway, this show was her only birthday show. She requested Divisions and Andy’s and got them BOTH. And a pretty raging festie set imho. Later that summer I saw BB outside the Hampton Beach Casino and thanked him for playing her b’day tunes. He remembered right off: “Yeah… that was Divisions and Andy’s, right?” The guys loved my little lady and they were always kind and friendly and ready with hugs when we’d run into them. I’m pretty sure Bayliss had a bit of a mom-crush on her.
I’ve seen UM 100 times over the years, and she was by my side shakin’ it for 97 of those shows. Profoundly grateful for 46 years of great memories with a most amazing woman.
Cherish your loved ones, my friends. There are no guarantees this time around. Nothing lasts forever, not even epic fairy tale romances like the one I was so lucky to experience.
Thanks for sharing. Very beautiful story. I feel so fortunate that I’ve been able to see so many amazing shows with my brother. And also just realized I’ve been seeing um with Leah for a decade now. It took a while for her to “get” music, especially jam bands and some of the heavier stuff I’ve gotten her into, but I’m so grateful that I can just be like “hey we’re doing a show in this other state, you in”
Disappointed that I spaced giving this one a proper 20 year bump last week.
This was a special one for me as it was the 1st UM show I saw after my intense thyroid cancer surgery & 1.5 months of getting the synthetic thyroid meds dialed in. It was so f’n hot/humid & I really prob shouldn’t have been at this event, but I needed it pretty bad. My good friend came from Madison, scooped me up & drive us down for this. Very fond memories of that gesture.
that was like the 3rd show we saw in the rain that year and it wasn’t even July. this show was the source of my buddy and I always talking about going on summer tour and selling ponchos.
Very recent history, but nevertheless obligatory fluff for 7/3/19, a standout show from the best year in the last 10 years. The 2nd set isn’t as good to my ears for repeated listens, but hot damn does that 1st set just fucking rage.
