15 years ago today I saw my favorite UM show…
Came here to bump this as I sleepily realized today’s date. Forever in my top 2 all time best. It’s probably best for everyone to accept they’re not going to play shows like this ever again. Ah well, we’ll always have the SBDs…
16 year anniversary bump to a really fun night, that tends to get overshadowed & nearly forgotten about, due to all the other heaters I saw in ‘06. Anyway, both sets are very solid here. We rode down with an old friend for this one & essentially risked our lives the whole time. Some people just are not good at handling heavy traffic in unfamiliar territory. This dude would slam on his brakes on the busy freeway when he was about to miss an exit. I don’t think I’ve ever been so freaked out by a sober driver before. So, after that journey, I always demanded to be the driver. He’s a good dude, but yikes….
[February 25, 2006] The Egyptian Room, The Murat Centre — Indianapolis, IN, USA
Set 1: Ringo, Plunger > Atmosfarag > Resolution > Eat, Morning Song, (Don’t Fear) The Reaper[1]
Set 2: The Bottom Half, Front Porch[2] > The Triple Wide > Got Your Milk (Right Here), Slacker, Utopian Fir > Pay the Snucka
Encore: JaJunk
Footnotes:
[1] with Glen Kotche on cowbell and Joel on keytar
[2] with Jake on acoustic guitar
Aside from the no jam Fir, the rest of this show is very tight & enjoyable.
14 year anniversary bump to a top tier 2008 show!!
This was my first of three birthday shows I’ve caught and by far the best. What a night!
Happy Birthday, man!!
Happy Birthday Mike!
Happy birthday duder!
Thanks y’all!
Obligatory anniversary bump. Such a great night!!
I feel silly for not bumping this one over the past couple years, but 14 year anniversary bump to another killer Iowa show. The Des Moines show the night before this one overshadowed this at the time (for me at least), but this one has equally great segments throughout both sets.
The opening 40ish mins of Fir> ALB> Fir is a serious heater, and the Wally is stellar as well. The 2nd set has some gold as well, particularly the Crooked & jam out of LMS, but that 1st set is where it’s at, IMHO.
[February 28, 2008] The Capitol Theatre — Davenport, IA, USA
Set 1: Utopian Fir > Andy’s Last Beer, Utopian Fir > Passing, Uncle Wally, Kula
Set 2: Professor Wormbog, Morning Song, Mulche’s Odyssey, Last Man Swerving[1], Uncommon > Glory > Uncommon, Rocker Part 2 → The Crooked One[2]
Encore: The Fussy Dutchman
Footnotes:
[1] ended with a “keyboard duel” between Kris and Andy on house piano and organ, Jake on additional keys
[2] unfinished
**Show Notes:**with Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio (Rush) teases after Uncle Wally
This first set is great
Set 1: Red Tape → Intentions Clear → Syncopated Strangers, Nothing Too Fancy > Africa, Conduit, Mullet (Over)
Set 2: Much Obliged → E.T.I. > Much Obliged → Alex’s House → Nothing Too Fancy, Made to Measure > Miss Tinkle’s Overture[1], The Fuzz > 40’s Theme
Encore: Hangover
Footnotes:
[1] with Andy Buch on bass; Andy programmed Miss Tinkle’s Overture for Rockbandnetwork
Bump for my 2nd show. This was a songlist show and has one of the best (possibly the best) fancy reprise.
Still bitter about missing this one
I remember listening back not too long ago and the Red Tape was pretty aimless and the IC was just ok but The Fuzz has some of the most tasteful Jake licks out there. I can vividly remember that moment if I close my eyes. One of the first times this band clicked for me.
2.28.08 and 2.28.10 were great shows. My homie would have been 33 today….2.27-3.2.08 was our first five night run as undeRAGERS. RIP Dan. He didn’t make it the 2010 show but I had a great night with @terruntz and @burtherdbath!
Can’t wait till the Colorado shows……3.5 months is such a long time to wait though for another show though….might have to look into Scamp this year!
I did that 5 night run w/a Dan as well. He was dkrep on the old bort. I haven’t seen him in a few years, but pretty sure he’s still in Madison & doing fine. Sorry about the loss of your friend. I feel like I’ve seen you mention him before. I’m real curious if we’ve met in those years past. We sure do know enough of the same people, that’s for sure.
I remember the handle dkrep but not sure if we’ve met and pretty sure you and I haven’t met yet but we’ve probably crossed paths at some point. I remember you, me, and @Stupac all hitting our 200ths early in 2017 so we’ve had a lot of chances at least haha. Thanks for the sentiments on my friend - I do mention him a lot - our birthdays were a day and year apart, he was like a little brother to me. Dosed him for his first time at Scamp 2007 and we caught 54 UM shows together 2007-2011. Lots of good times with him on ter.

Good ole Daniel Krepski, miss that guy…it’s been awhile!
