I still watch this Glory sometimes when I’m feeling down.
I’m probably responsible for at least 1,000 of the 199K views on that video lol. Just put it on now! There was a time in my life circa 2008 when I’d start every walk to campus playing this version of Glory. It truly is epic.
The build throughout was what really impresses me, with an abrupt peak and drop into Eminence Front.
These are things I usually miss at shows themselves but pick up while streaming shows, and part of the reason (when the band is playing well and doing a lot of improv) I enjoy listening and watching from my couch.
This show, 10 years ago today, was so much damn fun! I’m so very happy that UM has finally left that f’n venue in the past, but there’s no denying some of the legendary nights at the Eagles/Rave. This was a great way to end that era, and move on to the better, greener pasture that is the Riverside.
RIP Dan! My buddy died ten years ago yesterday and the band dedicated Ain’t No Fun to him that show. We sent a recording of the UMLive to his parents after this happened. I hope they found some peace in it. Thanks for posting the show - I was living in Austin in the time and didn’t make it but I was grateful the band honored my friend that night. Class acts.
