The Psych / Garage / Lo-Fi Thread

From King Gizz, to The Oh Sees, Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett, hell even the Black Keys in some cases. From the US to Australia. The parameters of this thread are quite flexible, so don’t hold back.

What are you listening to? Who are you seeing?

I’ve got a Gizz show in April, and I’m currently revisiting White Lung

Just started exploring King Gizzard’s discography, and I’ve loved just about everything I’ve heard!

damn having to start to rebuild this one again!

I will probably try to hit the Philly King Gizz show in May if I can. Bummed there’s nothing around me at all.

Veers more spacey than most of the standbys in these threads, but Chris Forsyth’s latest is really good. I don’t think the experimental nature of it will put off most folks on this DBMB.

forsyth, garcia peoples, ryley walker’s live material are all part of this new “indie jam movement”, which i welcome to give some of these jam band nerds some exposure to a different (and in 80% of cases, much better) neighborhood of improvisation.

Rose City Band’s self titled debut is really good. Recorded/produced by Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips/Moon duo. I preordered the vinyl. Stoked for it to arrive later this month.

Going to check out all of this ^^^

Post Animal just announced a full US tour. Stoked to see them 3/14 in Brooklyn, I’ve been waiting for them to hit the East coast for a while now.

Also, didn’t realize until recently that Joe Keery (Steve form Stranger Things) was a founding member of the band.

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely going to try and catch them in CO in April.

Had no idea about this. Kinda awesome.

Also gonna throw out some obligatory Psychedelic Porn Crumpets fluff in this thread.

Fuzz is playing some dates this summer. Not sure exactly what they are but saw a FB event post about a Boston date in June. Pumped.

That’s be cool to check out. I’m really waiting for a King Tuff tour

Never heard of Fuzz. Checking them out now and they are definitely cool, thanks for the rec. Bought Post Animal tickets for April. Will be my first time seeing them, definitely stoked.

I’m a sucker for anything Ty Segall does, even if that means he’s sitting behind the drum kit.

Discovered these guys today. Digging both their debut album and the new EP:

Anybody ever listen to Wand? Really enjoying this album today:

Definitely have a very similar feel to some bands mentioned here: Fuzz/Ty Segall, Post Animal, Thee Oh Sees.

They’ve come up on my discover weekly a few times and I always like the song I hear. I gotta actually dive in. Thanks I’ll check that album out!

Wasted Shirt album out today!

Some background :

Somehow stumbled across a French indie band, Pépite, today. Getting some Mac DeMarco vibes on some of the tracks, along with a whole host of other influences. Fun listen, think Revues, Allo?, and Zizanie were my fav tracks.
