RRX 2024

Glad to see so many folks saying yes. Hope they get to do their thing for decades to come. Maybe the momentum will shift again down the road and they will be back to multiple nights in a couple years.

Selfishly I would love to see a Levitt show get announced. I’ll have a 3mo kid and that venue is close to home and very family friendly. Huge lawn hill that’s never close to crowded. We always loiter outside the fence for a few good half dozen shows a year - bring a cooler and picnic/BYOB.

That Sunday, the 16th, is open at Levitt.

Levitt is huge, like almost 20K, though I think maybe ticketed show capacity may be half that or less. They do have a lot of free events and smaller bands that play there.

I wonder if even the paid shows are subsidized by the non-profit to reduce ticket prices.

Levitt Pavilion Denver is a non-profit established with the purpose of building community through music.

Levitt Pavilion Denver is the first and only free cultural venue in Denver. Offering a FREE concert series to the public, this invaluable asset to concertgoers and musicians alike, Levitt Pavilion Denver provides increased access to the arts. With the average cost of U.S. concert tickets skyrocketing to $93.51 in 2018 (according to Pollstar), the amphitheater will donate the equivalent of nearly $36,000,000 of free music each year! The amphitheater will also act as a launching pad for local artists, exposing them to audience sizes eclipsing those of local bars and indoor venues. Emerging Colorado based musicians will be paid above current local scale and half of the concerts will be dedicated to those Colorado-based acts, with the rest featuring emerging national and international groups.

I know a large group of people who became UM fans in 2019. Sucks to be the jaded guy but it’s fun to go to shows with them because they’re still chasing their first Mulche’s and shit like that

Didn’t the biscuits cancel midwest shows because of poor ticket sales like a year ago? They cancelled New Haven because of that.

Besides Goose most jam band popularity seems to be declining

Yep, which is why i mentioned they were basically dead in the water until they started writing new songs, doing streams on nugs, and seemingly finding the “fire” and drive again.

Them being on the way back up doesnt mean they are big. They are just back to growing.

Whereas i havent noticed any growth from anyone else, and as you mention, aside from Goose and Billy Strings most bands are losing popularity.

UM seems to be shrinking pretty rapidly, but i am sure some of that is just that i am more in tune with what they do because of the bort than i am with other similar bands. Sounds like a lot of you are still seeing lots of new faces which is always a good thing, but certainly losing more ticket sales than they are gaining.

I was looking back at the past show locations in Colorado and they haven’t played Boulder since 2015. That year they played the tiny Boulder Theatre on July 2, 2015, before playing RRX the next night and High Sierra Music Festival on July 4. I wonder if they might think of doing something in boulder, considering last year they returned to The Mishawaka Amphitheatre after a 14 year break.

Selfishly would like to see a levitt show as well. That’s a very enjoyable, low key venue that is also very accessible by bike.

I would think odds are higher they book mountain shows again rather than Boulder, a la Dillon or Vail, but Boulder would be cool. Would love to see em at Chautauqua, I missed the only show they played there in 2013.

But yeah, also down with Levitt.

Agreed on mountain run. Dillon has 7/16 open and Gerald R. Ford amp in Vail has 7/14 open.as of current schedules.

Iron and wine playing the mission that Monday after so I’m going to be doing that too

Curious to see the Dillon schedule this year. SCI was apparently not invited back this year. Rumors are that Pretty Lights fans were digging under fences and sneaking in and ruined it for the rest of the jam scene. Not sure I buy it. There are a couple electronic acts on the schedule already, so I have my doubts.
