Rockjavik: A 3 night run in Iceland

It’s kinda a bummer it worked out this way. I’m sure there were a lot of people who were shut out initially that could have actually afforded to go. This isn’t the type of trip that most people can execute last minute.

Basically. Planned 2 Iceland trips within a month of going. Really not that difficult

To clarify, the extra is for my buddy who had to bail. He quit his job a month before we bought the tix assuming he’d have a new gig lined up by now. He’s still doing interviews trying to land gainful employment so an overseas vacation is not in the cards. I’m trying to hustle his ticket for him, obviously I don’t have high expectations but if anyone hears of someone looking for a ticket send me a PM.

On the plus side I’m hoping that the venue will be allow for plenty of dance room. Does anyone know what the booze situation is there? Are you going to be able to bring drinks in?

At the Kauffman Center in KC (a similar super-modern concert hall) they only allow drinks in the lobby, nothing in the venue. I’m guessing this might be the same.

That would be absolutely devastating. Super strict drug laws and no booze allowed in the viewing area? Would be a terrible combo lol. Fingers crossed that this isn’t the case. That’s the kind of policy that should have to be advertised in enormous red letters on any ticket purchase page.

Lol if that’s the case

Ya I’ve been in venues like that before. Sucks

Agreed. This hadn’t even occurred to me.

Feel like it would lead to people chugging and then throwing up. I’d rather have someone spill their beer in a seat than puke in their seat.

Yeah I know some people have some very legit reasons for not making it. But I think there were at least some careless people out there that committed to this initially without understanding the true cost of the trip. Wasn’t trying to single out anyone in this thread, more so all the people I’m seeing with extras on FB.

Put me in the group of people that really wanted to make the trip happen when it was announced and then got shut out because I didn’t expect it to sell out so quickly. I used that vacation time for my trip to Mexico this past January and now I’m salty about these cheap seats up for grabs .

For UMs sake I hope it is a packed room but KB can still fuck off.

Haven’t found a ton of info but did find this TripAdvisor review that confirmed my suspicions:

Went to see Olafur Arnalds in concert on Dec 18th. Beautiful concert hall. Modern amenities and beverages (adult and non alcoholic) were available, however, you cannot bring drinks into the concert hall itself.

Kind of a bummer but not a total deal breaker. Not tryna spend my mornings hungover as fuck while in Iceland.

Same. I’m guessing the fact that drinks are going to run $15+ a pop will help in that endeavor.

Just bring a vape cart and discrete puff. Yall realize that drinks at a venue are gonna be like 30 dollars a pop right?

Seeing all these extra tickets now bums me out. Also didn’t expect it to sell out so quickly and I would have 100% been in.

Not sure if Iceland is like the US in that music venues overprice drinks. I saw a concert there once (granted a much smaller venue) and beers were in the 9-10 range which is pretty average for Iceland.

And I suggest bringing a vape pen. Brought one with me when I went and faced no problems. Smoked weed with some locals but it was the worst fucking weed I’d smoked in over 10 years. God awful.

Any tips for this? Just pack in your toiletry bag or something? Have read it’s pretty easy, but the risk of missing out on the entire trip if caught gives me pause.

As long as nothing says THC on it you should be fine. I’ve packed it in with my electronics bag before and havent had any trouble
