Rockjavik: A 3 night run in Iceland

What a poorly named place. If it’s a secret, why does everyone know about it?

I’ll only be there for the 3 days, so just putzing around town. I’ll go to that whale museum for sure though.

Fwiw the blue lagoon is great after a red eye. Think it opens at like 8am so it times out pretty nicely. Make sure to book ahead

Looks like we won’t have to pass a COVID test to get into Iceland. Just to return back to the US.

I’m a little worried about going to Amsterdam. Restrictions are high, but starting to diminish. Our plan was one week in Iceland, one in amsterdam

This just makes me want to be a bit more cautious at the shows now though. It was kinda nice going into it knowing that everyone just tested negative. My main fear is catching Covid and getting stuck in Iceland for extra days. I definitely plan on getting the quarantine insurance for the worst case Ontario.

I was sweating the test going in because I have a family wedding the week before that I’m obligated to go to. But being stuck there for a little longer? Eh, there’s worse things that could happen.

Travel insurance is well worth it though. Think it was like $150 for my wife and I.

Yeah it would just be expensive and I think it would be a hassle with work. But overall you’re right, getting stuck in Iceland wouldn’t be a bad thing lol

Edit: the biggest plus side to this whole thing is that we won’t have to worry about a band member missing the show due to testing positive.

Was wondering about this, do they not still self test while on tour? They’ve missed shows (and countless other bands) over the last year from a band or tour member testing positive. Is there some regulation that if you’re touring everyone must be tested regularly? Such a charade at this point.

Seeing a lot of tickets for sale. That plus no mask mandate = plenty of space to groove and absolutely awesome time. Love it when shows are slightly undersold. Really wish the “wife” and I could swing this

Genesis is playing their last show in London March 26, I just badgered Joel on twitter for a cover in Iceland. I haven’t seen one since Vegas 2015. They haven’t been playing Abacab at all this reunion tour, would be cool if UM brought that song to life.
