Anybody need a 3 day pass? Can no longer make the trip.

Edit: Sold!

Hopefully we hear something today or tomorrow.

About what? Just like an update?

They said the iceland large gathering rules are in effect through the 2nd. So hopefully they open things back up fully and can confirm concerts are happening.

Yeah, I’m just anxious for any concrete details. I haven’t booked anything for our trip yet since it was such a cluster fuck with us flying out 30 minutes before the travel ban was announced in 2020.

This has me hopeful, but i’m not holding my breath on anything

Nice!

“If things go according to plan, we could be looking at lifting all measures by mid-March,”

Still not making me feel great. When is it decided “if things are going according to plan”? Seems like this will still all be pretty last minute whether this run can be pulled off on the current dates.

Exiting ALL plans by mid March definitely bodes well. Even if they’re somewhat restricted at the end of March that should still be fine

The cap on gatherings will be extended to 50 people from 10 from Saturday and rules for restaurants, sports and stage performance will also be relaxed, Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir said at news conference on Friday.

Any word on the new rules for stage performances? That could be a big portion of what the Umphrey’s team is discussing with the Icelandic government.

Don’t feel overly good still. And waiting till mid-March would be insanely expensive from an airfare standpoint

Edit: Found this:

  • Sit-down events can have up to 500 guests per compartment, a one-metre social distancing rule shall be observed between unrelated parties, and a mask requirement shall be in effect. Rapid tests will not be required.

The Chief Epidemiologist believes that in view of the above it is prudent to assume that all restrictions will be lifted by mid-March 2022 as long as the current presumptions hold, i.e. new variants of the virus will not emerge and there will be no increase in serious illness that will put excessive strain on the health system or too many absences due to illness in various businesses that will lead to emergencies.

Here’s the official stuff/website from the government

Who is that dude

The ATU guy maybe?

He’s, as you might say, “in the industry.”

Rockjavik Attendees,

Thank you for your patience as we have been hard at work gathering information to make the best decision possible in regards to the Rockjavik shows.

By all indications, Covid is on a steady decline and this week the Icelandic Minister of Health has implemented a multi-level program for easing Covid restrictions in the country. Iceland is on track to lift all Covid restrictions by early March, possiblysooner.

Given those factors and our continued close contact with Harpa management, we have determined the Umphrey’s McGee shows scheduled for March 25 - 27, 2022 will proceed as planned .

As of today, the US is still requiring all passengers to show proof of a negative test for entry. We will post a list of testing options in Reykjavik to ensure you can get tested prior to departure. Currently, the following travel rules apply for flying into Iceland for all visitors, both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

We recommend that all attendees take out travel insurance in the unlikely event you need to extend your stay in Iceland.

With Covid restrictions being lifted, Reykjavik bars and restaurants should be operating at full capacity and keeping regular hours. With that news we are excited to announce that Star Kitchen will open up Saturday’s show and TAUK will open up Sunday’s show. Friday night will be An Evening With Umphrey’s McGee. Jen Harstwick will also once again be joining us at Rockjavik. Late night shows will be announced shortly along with ticket and venue information.

We truly appreciate all of the support the UM Family has shown us these past 3 years. We knew from the beginning these would be very special shows, and the wait has only made us more excited for what the band is going to come with.

Any and all questions regarding the upcoming Rockjavik shows should be sent via the online form at https://umphreys.is/#contact

Thank you as always and we look forward to seeing you all in Iceland in less than 2 months time.
