Yeah it makes you wonder if their applications for new credit cards got denied and now cant afford to go…fucking wooks…I hope the shows happen, but who knows not my decision and you gotta feel for whoever it is making that call, because either way it goes people are not gonna be happy…fuck it cant please everyone
Maybe they’ll somehow combine/take over moe’s Iceland weekend since who knows if chuck will be playing at that point
Damn. Love this idea
I mean there was literally a post yesterday from a chick saying “I hope it gets canceled, but I have 3 VIP packages for sale.” Yeah, people can’t give away their tickets for free, let alone your $3k of tickets. Sucks to be you, but to pull the fucking attitude of “I hope no one can go just so I can get my money back,” yeahhh fuck you lady.
I’m definitely going to the shows if they’re on, but worst case Ontario it just gives me more days to explore the island. I’m leaning towards renting a camper van for the majority of the trip if the shows don’t happen.
Right up there with ‘minus well’ for my money.
Where are you seeing these posts? Depending on the news today, maybe I would consider buying someone’s tickets and going. I def wouldn’t pay for VIP tho.
There is a Rockjavick Facebook group
Rockjavik umphreaks: endgame
I joined to hopefully see some useful tips, whatever. But now it’s mostly idiots being idiots, so it’s decent for some light trolling. But seriously fuck that chick for her post yesterday.
I’m not so sure about Iceland. I read that they went up from 27K total cases to 40K the past few weeks b/c of omicron
My day started out really shitty. One of my staff and his elderly father caught Covid after working with one of my clients who had an exposure that we didn’t know about. Rescheduling iceland would just be the shit cherry on top.
Rockjavik attendees:
Thank you for your patience as we have tried to navigate our way through this (hopefully) last wave of Covid. Rest assured we are In constant contact with our Icelandic partners and we are hopeful that our shows scheduled for March 25-26-27, 2022 will happen as planned.
- Iceland is being proactive and controlling case numbers by keeping their current event capacity restrictions through February 2. At that point we will get the next update from the Icelandic government in regards to being able to hold our shows and will make a final decision. We are in constant contact with our event partners at Harpa and are hopeful, based on current global trends and the Icelandic health authorities, that this latest wave will have run its course by February and we will be getting back to a sense of normalcy. According to most data coming out by health authorities worldwide we will be on a downward trend in February.
- We are in contact with our friends at IcelandAir and can confirm that in the unlikely case of another postponement, they will extend your flight credits for an additional period to cover travel for the rescheduled dates
- In the case of postponement, we will find new dates and at that time announce our refund policy if you are unable to attend the rescheduled dates.
We have all worked too hard and too long to not have these shows happen. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patience and continued support. Your enjoyment and safety are our highest priority when making these decisions.
For as much shit as we talk on here this band still does take care of the fans. I’m happy with that statement.
“current wave (which is hopefully the last)”
“in the unlikely case of another postponement” >> is it unlikely? don’t play with peoples emotions like that if you’re not 100% sure
TL;DR
Great statement. Gonna assume Jwelsh wrote it and not KB
I do think it’s ridiculous for them to leave the fate of this event up to a groundhog.
This is probably the best update we could hope for.
Definitely Jwelsh, there was no comment about pants optional so should’ve gave it away it wasn’t KB.
Why cant all of their press releases/official statements sound this concise and professional. It doesnt even really say anything leaning one way or the other, but it just sounds like an actual adult staff member wrote it instead of our Wordsmith encapsulating metaphorical philosophies surrounding surreal zeitgeist experiences
