@toomanypomas42 and @iamkickinit have a better finger on the pulse of the Detroit burbs than I do these days but my buddy lived there in between Colorado stints and I had good times there visiting him. You are like 15ish from downtown Detroit and not too far from the Royal Oak Music Theater so you have music venues not too far away plus Otis Supply Company gets smaller jam bands so right there in Ferndale you have an option. Ferndale was very gay friendly when I was growing up and it’s continued to get gentrified as Detroit re-emerges. He will like it I imagine. Can’t really think of a better suburb to post up in these days for that area.

Ferndale is a great spot for young professionals. There’s tons of great restaurants, bars and music, plus you’re a straight shot to downtown Detroit, only about 10-15 mins away.

It’s fantastic. Solid little downtown area. Couple great breweries (Ferndale Project and Urbanrest). Good food. EasyAF cab ride to the city. Young. Great choice.
