I wouldn’t say it’s boasting. It’s extremely practical. Flying, camping, international travel, driving through large portions of my state. Plenty of reasons why one would want to have offline access to music. They’re playlists that I’ve spent hours upon hours curating. Of course I’m gonna back that shit up.

i dont use spotify or pandora or plex. i’m 100% flac/shn/mp3/m4a/etc. stored on external hds, and the external hds each have a backup.
i put music/downloaded podcasts on my phone. when i’ve listened to them i delete them off my phone and replace them with other music/podcasts from a vast collection.
i like the curating process, i dont need everything at my finger tips all the time

“Wife” got pulled by security at STS9 a long time ago for being too fucked up. She texted me saying to come find her by the back door. I walked up double fisting drinks which wasn’t a good look. Security was saying she had to leave, but they wouldn’t let us leave unless we had a driver with us and that they were going to call the cops if we couldn’t find a one. For whatever reason they were trying to say they wouldn’t let us call an Uber to get home. Finally a cop shows up and starts arguing with security and telling security guard “what do you think the point of Uber is? You’re basically encouraging people to drive fucked up.” Cop watched me order a ride, took my name and number, and left us with a stern warning that we better be going home to sober up and that we better not be caught out making trouble that night.
