Same.
Not completely out of the question. Will keep you posted
its so sick

KB out here writing paragraphs for Mihali too damn
Twiddle has been around since 2004? holy fuck thatâs funny.
kudos to them for not throwing in the towel at any point in the first 14 years.
I just gained respect for them
to have a lead singer that sounds like that and to stick with it?
they should be motivational speakers who specialize in perseverance.
Totally random question but I want to talk about venue booking and how it works. So UM is doing 2 nights at First Ave in February. Theyâve played First Ave or the Palace a shit ton since 2006 so I get why theyâre still playing there.
It feels like any market where there is a Fillmore, they play it. The Fillmore opened in 2020 in Minneapolis so Iâm wondering why they wouldnât have switched to the Fillmore here.
Is this more so about the promoter the band/management works with in a given city and less about any sort of alignment with a particular corporate venue?
I was really hoping to see a show at the fillmore
Iâm not arguing but UM is playing 9:30 in DC and not the Fillmore in Silver Spring. Both venues have basically the same capacity but UM has played 9:30 more.
But in Philly they are playing Fillmore over Electric Factory, again with similar capacity in both.
Canât speak broad strokes but I know in some cities, certain venues cater to certain types of bands. Eg the bottom lounge here in Chicago is pretty much where every mid tier punk, ska, pop punk band plays when theyâre in town. Not sure why. My guess is promoter/venue/band relationship
You arenât missing much. Saw a show there pre Covid. The whole venue is just a live nation shakedown. $14 coors lights and cops inside the main venue? Fuck that noise.
Canât speak for UM here, but I think it primarily has to do with existing relationships with promoters and artist management/agents handling tour routing and show confirmations.
Side note, just scooped some 2-days for First Ave this morning, excited to get back there for the 1st time since I think 2016!
Touché. I was thinking of Detroit and Philly.
No clue whether this is accurate but Iâd guess there is a venue of comparable capacity in Miami but UM plays the Fillmore.
Totally agree. Big room though so wouldnât have any fear of it being overcrowded.
Yeah, but you took the neighborhood out of the equation. It is far far faaaaar more pleasant taking a trip to Fishtown vs what is almost North Philly. Like you shouldnât venture too far off the beaten path around the e-factory, gets shady real quick.
While Fishtown does have some of the leftovers of the Kensington shuffle from down the street in the next neighborhood. There are certainly some factors to be aware of with regards to the addicts around. With that said at least you can see some sights⊠plenty of nice bars, breweries and restaurants, cafes, sugarhouse casino is a 2 minute walk from the Phillymore, food trucks to get a gyro, etc. You can do this without feeling like you have to keep a strap on ya just to walk around town. Probably has something to do with it. Just my .02
P.S. earlier this year they played the new Brooklyn Bowl which only holds 1000. So they tried something new, was cool to experience it since I hadnt been to the OG one in NYC or the 1 in Vegas
Plus Barcade is right there and letâs be honest, Barcade >>>>>>> Silk City in terms of late night shenanigans
Yeah that probably had something to do with it. I just âmember lots of great times at the electric factory when I was in high school and the only association I have with that Fillmore is being taken advantage of for $ balcony spots, at the security line, and drink prices
Now Iâm really confused? The e-factory (technically now the Franklin music hall) is over at like 6th and Spring Garden. What is this North Philly e-factory you speak of? What neighborhood are you talking about? That whole area by the e-factory is safe. Itâs also south of the Fillmore, and literally only a few blocks away.
