I doubt it. How things sit in a mix is obviously effected by gear, but the variability shouldn’t be. It’s been a issue long before July when they started rebuilding rigs. But again, everybody has a different workflow and none of us here can really say.
edit: Giving the benefit of the doubt, for all i know, they could be working out stage sound related stuff by changing gear, and then over time the mixes will start to get more consistent
Joel said that Jake is the audiophile of the group. I have a hard time believing that he could listen to some of these mixes and be happy. Also sounded like this was a point of contention with Kris? Idk brahs, I just want my crispy boards
Yup. Christopher (Coach) came out the gate saying he was going to turn up Kris in the mix. Based on some other things I’ve read, it sounds like Chris Mitchell and Kris didn’t get along very well - so Kris may have felt like Mitchell was keeping him lower in the mix than he deserved. Whatever, mannnnnn… Why they all gotta be named [Ch/K]ris?
But the Garcia’s recording is just unacceptable for a professional sound engineer.
Wait, there are thoughts that the current Nugs UM soundboards don’t sound good?
I am FAR from an audiophile. But IMO they sound great to me. And recent rooms (Omaha and Clear Lake) as well as outside at Driftless Music Gardens also sounded great to me. At least to my ears.
Jake has entirely changed his guitar amps, and the drums do sound different. But listening to those three aforementioned soundboards, I hear zero issues. Again, I am light years from any technical expertise.
I mean go listen to the Garcia’s show and tell me that sounds fantastic. It was dogshit during the stream too.
I’m glad the rooms still sound good at least from the couple shows I saw and what everyone else has been saying. But it’s unacceptable for a band to be so inconsistent now in SBD quality when this wasn’t even a thought a year ago with Mitchell still in the crew.
