Only UM show for me this entire year was Knoxville and won’t be attending any of the early next year shows. Weird only seeing one show and nothing lined up but I don’t really find myself missing going to the shows. I don’t think I have a desire to travel for them anymore which feels weird also

I haven’t seen them since they were last in Atlanta, 12/31/2022. Nor have I listened to any of the shows that have been played since. Can’t say I have missed it. I’m sure they’ll play here sometime next year, and I’ll likely be there having a blast.

I’ve bounced back and forth with caring/not caring about seeing UM. With the latest tour announcement, I’ve concluded that I’ve taken them for granted. No Michigan shows made me sad.
My wife and I are in the process of moving to Detroit (been in the burbs for 7 years). Hopefully they come back soon. Would love to only have a 3 mile trip home.

So… where do some yall fine folks stand on SOTY? Only got the NYE run left, and there’s always the chance that there’s a heater or 2, but the longish layoff stands in my way of feeling great about that. For me, there’s some good’ns.

Figured I’d see what videos UM has posted lately, clicked on this Escape Goat > Bridgeless. Quite literally 0 jamming. 30ish seconds of vamping then right into Bridgeless.
Wouldn’t they want to post some badass improv? Old man yelling at cloud but frustrating

Logic could be, you can’t keep somebody’s attention long enough to highlight a girthy inprov piece on YT.
All the other jam bands. Spafford, Phish, Panic, Bisco, etc., all post extended improv highlights on YouTube.
Spafford just posted a 5 minute Olivia Rodrigo cover so I guess it’s not just UM all the time

Um is horrible with putting big knockout improv on YT. It’s always been crazy to me that NONE of the best improv in the last 10 years that I can think of is officially released on video.

One of the hosts of my preferred S*xers podcast has another pod with a local indie music guy. They listen to albums they haven’t heard before and chat about them. Latest ep included Anchor Drops (and Flight B741.) Funny to hear two noobs discuss AD. Also, definitely checking out The Hu after listening to this.

Someone on FB was asking about the best version of “Wife Soup” and I instantly thought of the 02-08-2008 Seattle version. Listening now and this still rips! I wish they’d jam out this tune again!
