Just gotta have some green nuggets and we’ll have come full circle
I thought NR was a great tune.
Just listening to this now. Good call. This is ridiculous.
This one flew under the radar as far as 2006 show discussions here. Not to mention it’s the only time they’ve covered Bridge of Sighs!
That was my 100th show, I did too many shots and threw up in a garbage can next to the bar in the second set. Good times!!!
Every show from this one to the end of November 2006 is going on my queue to check out - seems like they were really on a tear.
November 06 definitely has a ton of highlights.
*screams bloody murder in agreement*
If you’re looking at 2006, I’ve always liked the Visions from 2/15/06.
One of my favorite from that year. I love how it starts so mellow and builds into the huge ending.
I originally saw this on one of the Stew albums when I started getting into these guys, and it was one that drew me in. The funky weirdness in the last jam, to top off the bliss filled jam prior, is the chef’s kiss.
Speaking of Stew Albums: I’ve had this year’s UMBowl candidates basically on repeat for a few weeks now. I’d definitely shell out for the download if they released it as a Raw Stewage. Nice job, again, @Southern_Dan - great picks.
Thanks Josh, look out for a dm in the next day or two.
One of my fav visions is from the 2011 Barrymore run in March. It has this James Bond kinda thing going on.
Love that visions. I randomly grabbed those shows one day, probably from a bort rec, and remember being blown away by that jam.
My personal favorite Visions is 4/11/08. Crazy ADD jam that just flies through so many section
That madison>minny run is slept on. There’s some really cool shit that happens in each show
That Visions rips, I guess they’re riffing on this sweet Bill Frisell tune:
Also a big fan of the Utopian in that second set. I miss the Barrymore
Me too. Id would love a Barrymore>orpheum run. The sylvee is fine, but it’s no theater
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but that weekend run was a good friend’s bachelor party. Technically the First Ave shows were the real bachelor party, but he lives 3 blocks from the Barrymore, so those shows were pretty much treated the same way except for the fact that his “wife” to be was included. Things got just a little bit out of control.
I would also suggest checking out 12/1/06, especially the first set. It was my second show and that set was just relentless lol. My newb brain couldn’t comprehend what was going on and is ultimately what got me hooked on Umphrey’s.
