We got entirely too drunk at a bar around the corner waiting for that show to begin. A bunch of hot messes hahaha

Fucking amazing that one is, just sublimely beautiful. Still throw it on every once in a while.

Thank god goose has passed the torch

This is sweet. Jake is way better than Rick, though.

Obviously much of the novelty has worn off after years of shows and obsessive listening, but I’m still always tickled by watching Jake go off. Had a second row seat at the Foxwoods show last month Jake side and it was a blast watching him that close for the first time in forever

Yeah, we take him for granted, but I love bringing new people just be enthralled by his skills.

He bores me more often than not these days when it comes to UM, but when he is on he is still about as good as it gets to me. I always love when he sits-in with folks, too, because he always shines.

I definitely appreciate his level of talent, particularly when he adds extra flair to their standard songs. I do tend to enjoy their improv more when it’s collaborative, and heavily textured, even if he is taking the lead and playing the main melody or riff.

Jake is a good shepherd of improv, especially when he’s patient && present. When he really listens to the rest of the band it totally takes the jam to another level. He sometimes forgets that a jam can be great without him taking it over completely. When the band plays together they do what they do very well.

When BB feels like remembering he’s in a jamband, he’s also a fantastic shepherd. His understanding of textures leads to some amazing melodies and when he takes the lead he really soars that seagull guitar

As they say there can only be one shepherd leading during a jam, so it truly depends on who’s at the helm which way she goes. So it goes

I like when Stasik and Kris lock into a groove before Jake and Bayliss even start playing.

This. I love listening to older jams for that style of building a stew. Starts with Kris laying down a good beat, Andy adds some Pyramid construction with the auxiliary perc, Stasik lays down a nice groove, Bayliss adds some texture, Joel puts on his cape&& throws in that underlying chord structure, Jake locks in with Bayliss and off we go to the races
