I wish Umphrey’s would shift focus from Web3 to artificial intelligence. It would be cool to have a platform where we could analyze improv with AI. You could feed the software all the .FLACs of Umphrey’s soundboards and then on new releases you could analyze the files for similar parts based on its understanding of composed pieces and the improv sections of the songs.

That was my first birthday show (of three.) First night of my first five night run with the band. Did it with my buddy Dan (RIP) who had a birthday show the next night in Davenport. Great fucking times.
If you are looking for an underrated show to spin, I think 8.8.14 is a really good show. It’s from Hampton Beach. My only time there, but ate some needlepoint from the Professor and had an amazing time. I recall an older woman asking me if she could give me a hug because she enjoyed my energy that night. Something special was in the air that evening. Joel even comments on the crowd in comparison to the night before during the encore break. Check it out…the Tinkles>Higgins>Tinkles sandwich and the 1348>Fuzz>1348 are a lot of fun. Just a great flow to this show from my perspective.

This is why we need stats embedded into the bort. So you can get a loose read on who you are talking to. What’s your UM history like, when did you start seeing them, how often, etc. It’s interesting to see how people got into this band and what their consumption of the band has been like and why they increase or decrease their consumption over the years.
Like if you look at my usage, I first tried UM in 2006 and then really started using them the end of 2007-2011. In November 2011, my best friend who I had seen UM with 54 times, OD’d on heroin so I stopped seeing them for a bit. Then I started using UM heavily again towards the end of 2013 with a spike in 2014 and another spike over 2016-2017. That coincided with me leaving Corporate America and introducing several years of financial instability into my life which drastically reduced my usage. I’ve been trending up since 2018 though and have plans to become a full blow addict again. It’s my favorite thing to do when I look back on my life so far. Using UM makes me happiest. 2008 was the best year of my life so far for better or worse and that was also the year I used UM the most - 34 times. Coincidence? Maybe, but I haven’t seen them 34 times in a year since and I have yet to reach that high again in my life so I’m chasing that shit brahs.
